Haven't read it for over 10 years. Of course if you want a left leaning equivalent the Guardian is pretty good! I frequently have to go and have a lie down in a darkened room after reading anything by Polly Toynbee or Owen James. Bad for my health. Quote

I'm pretty sure I said more likely, not certain. I didn't seek to imply a difficult upbringing will automatically make someone turn to crime. As other people have pointed out, there are plenty of 'white collar' criminals who are no better, or worse. But I thought we were discussing this in the context of the theft of motorbikes, not criminality in general. Quote

James in Brum Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 Could we give the ‘your political tribe are counts, no yours are’ a break no one has changed anyone’s mind on the net. Sadly greater discussion seems to lead to greater entrenched ness and f**k me it’s dull. 1 Quote

You do realise that these Gammons would hunt you down and dismember you because of your multiple speeding convictions? I just don't know what gets into you speed freaks! Quote
S-Westerly Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 Umm no? Speaking as a speed freak only and off the record of course. Quote

What we have now is a slap on the wrist and don't do it again scenario, because it is cheaper to let the insurance payout. and it isn't going to get any better Quote

Cheers Ian Hi Ian Thanks for the offer, but I think I am sorted for now!! The garage now has an alarm and full CCTV, I also purchased a car (cheaply) to sit in front of the garage doors, so they cannot get to the door- it is just a pain in the backside that every-time I want to go into the garage I have to move the car. 2 Quote

Ian Frog Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 The car is a good move not only makes the door inaccessible but may give the impression that someone is at home at all times. Cheers Ian Quote
Tango Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 Not condoning what happened (3 lives changed forever on that day), but the talk about just letting the insurance sort it out assumes that the guy who owned the bike had more than 3rd party only insurance? Maybe the thieves threatened him with a claw hammer whilst they ground his disk lock off? He must have seen them take the bike, otherwise he wouldn't have caught up with them in a car. So, there's probably more to this than has been reported and maybe that's what caused him to chase them down? Who knows, but whatever, it is a pretty tragic event in many ways. 3 Quote
