BMW M Endurance Chain (Lube and adjustment never required!!)

I've just found out about this after browsing the web, surprised I haven't seen it before. BMW have developed a completely maintenance free chain. It requires no lube or adjusting :classic_blink:

It's only available for the S100RR & XR at the moment apparently.

Not sure, I don't remember seeing it on here.

I would probably still end up cleaning and lubing it!

I'm the same as Tiggie,  would still clean and lube it .... call me old fashioned but I've never trusted anything that says "maintenance free"

Seems a bit too good to be true. There will be some catch. If they really did make a chain that never had to be replaced would they not be doing themselves out of business?

@WD-40  Very true, I would assume it will have some wordage somewhere saying it needs replacing every so many miles.

Reminds me of a story (outdated now) about how electric bulb companies could use a thicker filament and the bulbs would last 10 times as long if not more. Pretty clear why they never did that!

This is a photo of a lightbulb that has been running continuously since 1901

Its in a fire station somewhere in California

I've heard of that but never used "or seen" it.  Is that the wax type lubricant that you heat up first?  Do you not end up with loads of winter crap and grit sticking to the chain?

Putoline chain wax is essentially the same thing. note what it says on the tin.

Not something I would use on my bike chain... which does have O rings.

yes you warm it up and the chain slowly sinks into it and then leave it in for a couple of minutes then lift it out with something like a painters hook ad let it drain off for an hour, cant tell you about the winter riding i dont do it anymore

They don't make em like they used to! I'll see your useless fact and raise you another one. I heard an incandescent bulb is most likely to blow when you're turning it on because for the first split before it heats up it's basically a short circuit.
