A thought for all if your getting fed up, with British news?  I know I am.

IMHO it's not news most of its not even news worthy people with an axe to grind grasping at straws trying to get the next great story.
I now watch/ listen for 30 minutes and switch.

Generally to Al Jazeera (235) it gives you another view on the outlook in the world.  Presently its American Dr's who where laid of because they are not required.
Earlier it was people dying in Manaus Brazil because they have not got enough Oxygen to keep them alive, vaccination just starting.  Oh and some one sentenced to 4 decades in jail for insulting the king.  Last week it was middle east and sanctions being lifted.
Yes it has its own agenda and sensualism, it also gives the outside view of us.

What other free channels do you watch.

Watch very little in the way of news, mainly watch the sony channel sky 157 during the day till around 9 pm, then will either watch a film if one on or possibly a dvd :thumb:

Tend not to watch much news, fed up with same old crap being regurgitated .... I thought Al Jazeera was Arabic??

Used to watch them when I worked for a Kuwaiti outfit as we got some satellite TV in the Gulf. They had a decent sports coverage and their news was no more biased than anyone else's.

I have always found AJ to be reasonably neutral. I also like Reuters but they include too much of a North America bias in their news these days same as all sources.
I feel a bit like we have, journalistically, become the 51st state

I'm with you on that. The endless reporting about the minutae of American politics is wearing. Ditto all the culture wars etc. Sure we might want to know the broad outline but we don't need all the detail. Try finding much in the way of foreign news in an American newspaper- maybe 2 pages out of 50 plus.

Good point. I mean neutral on the subjects I find annoying in terms of bias such as British politics etc.
their bias on those subjects sometimes feels refreshing.
particularly given the practices of Israel at the moment which don’t get much coverage in other media.

Well there I would disagree with you. There again I'm pro-Israel which these days isn't  exactly main stream.

Aj is far from neutral it's very anti Israel and USA, I've yet to find a news service that's not biased.

All news these days is partisan propaganda poorly dressed up as "journalism", I find I have to read several sources and look in between the lines and the hyperbole/activism in order to work out the truth.

News Channels/Programmes - Biased, simplistic soundbites intended to shape folks' opinions; not worth the waste of RF spectrum.

Newspapers - alright for cleaning up oil spills, wiping your arse if the prats have ransacked Tescos of bogroll again, wrapping chip suppers in, lining the rabbit hutch etc. Otherwise utterly garbage and worthless opinions dressed up as "news" and a tragic waste of trees.

News Websites - Mainly for howling-at-the-moon absolutely barking nuts rabid politicos/conspiracy theorists; damaging to mental health and best well-avoided. Proper headbanger tin-foil-hat stuff. A waste of valuable bandwidth, processing power and server space.

Well that's my rant over 😆
