Benefit of electric vehicles

I do not believe we will be able to get charging points into street furniture anytime soon unless the authorities cough up big time. We've been trying to get a couple of simple road signs put up at an accident spot for ages and the council point blank refuse because so far no-one has actually been killed. It will take a huge shift in attitude to make this happen.

Soon it will happen the same as in FIfe, all rapid chargers are empty and the few 7kw are hardly used.

This since they start asking money for use

What's the percentage of EV vehicles in Fife compared to ICE - I'd suggest it's bloody low so far.

There is no benefit.............My work colleague has a very expensive electric car, he recently went up to Scotland for a few days break. Once in the highlands the car needed charging, after several frantic attempts to charge the car at different charging locations it was eventually picked up by the recovery services, the car was taken to the nearest dealership where it has sat untouched for over week, so the app says! apparently they don't have the technology or diagnostic equipment to fault find and repair. Computer say's no :bang:

We've got the majority of infrastructure in place already and just about enough electricity generation capacity for us to all switch to EV cars now.

Unfortunately we're decommissioning some of our older power plant so generating capacity is shrinking - we'll need a few more nukes to keep us afloat in the future as "green" electricity just ain't gonna cut the shit for a good while yet.

The conclusion of my dissertation (which was on this stuff) was that we need a cheap and simple aftermarket unit we can strap to cars to capture the energy wasted is braking and exhaust heat to tide us over until someone comes up with a good long term solution.

We've  only got enough capacity if we fire up our gas and our coal generators, but this makes electric cars produce more co2 than ice. The nukes were building now are only going to start generating in 2024, and even then they're designed to replace these, not to handle increased demand from more electric cars. We don't yet have a national strategy for using electric vehicles that is carbon neutral.
