Fully comp used to include drive/ride Anything else as long as it was insured on another policy and legal Comparison sites are so much easier as is the internet, we're you around in the days of going through yellow pages and doing all that over the phone multiple times? Steve_M Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 Insurers attempt to provide cover for a broad range of circumstances, so offer these additional features. Imagine my situation where I do want to ride abroad, occasionally does ride someone else’s bike and does want no claims. They lose business if they don’t offer those options - declining them is simple… Quote
rob m Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 I've used comparison sites for years but for my last two quotes I've called my insurer (Carole Nash) with the most competitive quotes I've found online and they've beaten them each time and even thrown in extras. This wouldn't have happened online I'm sure, the ability to haggle is a game changer for me. Quote

Not really, the computer that generates any quote will be set to maximise the profit margin. So, if you call and tell them you have found a more competitive quote they already have so much leeway to reduce the quote and still make a profit. of course, most people don't take this step and simply accept the renewal or what appears to be a cheap quote - online. But it can easily be made cheaper just by making a phone call. Quote
iangaryprice Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 I have just had my renewal on my GSX600F 2003, fuly comp £87. Age 58. Not worth trying to geta better quote at that price. 3 Quote
John Metcalfe Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 I've been using Bikesure now for the last 5-6 yrs for all my bikes and found them very competitive when it comes to cost and inclusions etc. Just had renewal through for the 1994 K1100LT including riding over here in Tunisia and through Europe backwards and forwards to UK every 3-4 months and it's come in at £107 with no add-ons for breakdown etc. So won't be changing anytime soon 2 Quote

I never bother recommending anyone as comparison sites will usually give the cheapest option. Then you can call and haggle of course. 1 Quote
KyanBishop Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 (edited) I know it's been a while, but I think it's super important to shop around a bit when it comes to bike insurance. Different companies have different policies; some can save you a pretty penny. I’ve found that places like sundaysinsurance.co.uk offer some excellent deals and options. It’s worth checking if they cover what you need, like theft and damage, especially if you have a nice ride. Also, consider things like your riding experience and the type of bike you have. Sometimes, you might find discounts for being a safe rider. I’d suggest getting a policy that fits your lifestyle and budget. You don’t want to overpay for coverage you don’t use! Absolutely The cost of any insurance here in Ireland be it Motorbike / car / House / Life has always been high For example my bike insurance last year was more expensive than my car there are only a couple of companies that will insure motorbikes so no competition really Carole Nash / Principal / Axa direct and that's it Rip of Ireland prices as an example as an almost 60 year old Motorbike insurance €450 Car insurance €320 Life insurance €75 per month House insurance €360 per year average premium for health insurance in Ireland is €1,594 Edited October 20, 2024 by V650 2 Quote

muldoon74 Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Just started playing the "Go compare or (insert preferred comparison site name here)" game.. Popped in a 24 plate NX500 details (got registration plate number from an Autotrader search).. Can't believe the results. Fully comp best result £400 per annum. TPFT - £200. Details were full license less than a month, 7 years no claims on car insurance, 1 year on bike insurance (L plates 125) and been driving for 29 years. Main reason I did this was I watched a YouTube video by "Biker of Atlantis" trying to find quotes for bikes he's been looking at at the Superbike factory and (obviously personal details and area you live etc are factors in insurance quotes) but he's finding it very hard to get a reasonable quote for a bigger bike. Personally I'm chuffed to f**k with the results I've got.. Must be lucky. Incidentally the NX500 quote is cheaper than for my current 73 plate CB125F.. 2 Quote

RideWithStyles Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 Not just hoodies but normal people too, higher demand for the 125’s, more claims on a 125. most see the twin 500s pointless/well short of the mark for many reasons, like compared to 600s. 1 Quote
