  1. Fitted a Denali horn to the Bobber. Then decided it looked naff on the bike so took it off and put it on the CBF instead. Went out for a ride round N Wales and Cheshire with some mates. Got a wasp in my helmet and missed a turn so did a few more miles than planned. Got home a my wife had bought me a new motorcycle T shirt on account of my usual ones getting too disreputable.
  2. The ones that really bug me are the parasitic legal firms that watch who goes to A&E then ring suggesting looking for compensation. I had to take our daughter to A&E after she fell off a pair of ridiculous high heels on wet cobbles, copious amounts of Lambrini probably hadn't helped, she was a bit younger then. That afternoon the phone rings, they had more information than they should have been able to glean. So I played along to see how much they had but also contacted the hospital. Turns out someone in A&E was taking backhanders to pass on details. The other one was a lady who rang about industrial hearing loss. I couldn't resist it, I kept shouting that I couldn't hear her, you need to speak up, etc etc. She got very excited until we got to the bit about where I'd worked to suffer hearing loss. "You remember the Apollo space missions? Those enormous rockets built by NASA...I was the guy who lit the little blue touch paper."
  3. The thing with Southport hoodlums is that they're a little more subtle than the Blackpool version. But still waters run deep.
  4. My brother in law used to be in the armed response unit. He reckoned one of the worst areas for trouble was Southport.
  5. Never reply to scammers because some scans can harvest your phone or email and then use that as an identity to scam other people. Someone I know replied with an "ups yours" response which made them feel better. But then they were contacted by several people saying they'd received a scam call from this number.
  6. I could tell but then it wouldn't be a secret. And for the time being it needs to remain a secret. But when the time comes.....
  7. He's a FB friend as well actually! No that would be the goggle eyed self promoting non entity known as Charlie Boorman . Now there's someone with an appropriate name.
  8. I still have some cans of 20W/50 and even straight 30 monograde. The latter from when I used to work in a back street garage and we sold it to pour inside car doors to stop them rusting. Elf brand from the days Tyrell ran a six wheeler F1 car.
  9. The 30 may be down to newer engines having narrower oilways. I know some car engines suffer oil starvation if the ratings aren't followed. If I remember right Ford Zetecs used to suffer engine failures if 40 grade was used instead of the specified 30.
  10. I'm rushing out to buy shares in cider. I believe consumption is about to rocket. Have a great day.
  11. No worries. I once served with the US military. They couldn’t organise a piss up in brewery. Never seen such a shambles.
  12. Challenge 2020 - I thought it was about getting into 2021 still breathing and relatively sane.
  13. Are you paying? Yes, I am willing to go half each as long as I get half of any profit. As a friend from Barnsley used to say - You can always tell a Yorkshireman. Just like a Scot, with the generous streak removed.
  14. Back in the day of the MK1 Corrina a chap took delivery of his new car and immediately went on holiday to France. Ten days later he brought the car in for its first service. The only minor issue was a vibration at higher speed. When the opened the bonnet they found a mole wrench clamped onto the crankshaft pulley bolt. It had been used during PDI to check the points. Since then I've always had a high regard for mole wrenches.
  15. I guess that's not a great feeling. Hope it goes well though. Keep safe.
  16. You sure you're up to going that fast?
  17. Just remember that the 20mph limit won't apply to cycling. They did it round our way where we used to live, and then allowed the triathlon to run a cycle race on public roads through the 20mph zone. With cars limited to 20 and cyclists racing on the roads it was chaos. The 20pmh only applies to anything with an engine.
  18. Sounds good to me. I've just paid quite a bit more for a Buff, obviously being the original brand they're more expensive. But at £6 that's worth buying a few. I was very glad of mine when an insect the size of Godzilla hit me in the neck yesterday. Even with the buff it drew blood.
  19. No, it will just feel like it.
  20. In terms of using a garage it very much depends on the garage. My current garage is dry and would be fine to keep things in, my sailing kit lives there all year and isn't touched. Mind you it stinks to high heaven so that probably keeps mice at bay. But a previous garage was prone to damp and anything left in there went mouldy. Dehumidifiers only really work in a sealed area otherwise they're just constantly trying to remove atmospheric humidity. So one inside a sealed cupboard is fine, one in a garage that isn't very airtight is a waste of electricity. Also bear in mind that a refridgerant type won't work in cold weather. A dessicant type of dehumidifier will function down to very low temperatures. They cost more to run as they slightly warm the air (which can be beneficial in a garage) but they are more effective. So bang for your buck dessicant types are better value.
  21. I love these things. Brilliant when the weather is cooler. Also brilliant on very hot sunny days if like me the back of your neck burns easily, and/or, the hair on the top of your head is thinning (you can make a cool bandana out of them). I'd have four because there's always one in the wash, one I've lost, one in my other jacket pocket and one round my neck that I've forgotten it's there so I'm still looking for it. Oh, and they make a handy face covering for when you're out on the bike.v
  22. Is that so? A lot of people decat their Bobbers. How does that go at MOT time? I've never had emissions tested at MOT. No they don’t test at mot yet, but the cops supposedly can place a hefty fine on you if they wish as the emissions are supposed to be the same as when manufactured, that’s what I read came from White Dalton Motorcycle Solicitors I believe, The law has evolved over the years and long story short, it states it is an offence to use on the a road a vehicle which has been modified in such a way that it no longer complies with the air pollutant emissions standards it was designed to meet (if you are ever struggling to sleep I recommended reading the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations and the Road Traffic Act 1988. It is WAY more effective than counting sheep). If you get caught doing this i.e. ‘de-catting’ a motorbike that should have a catalytic converter etc. you could be looking at a hefty fine. Bizarrely though, as matters currently stand, motorbikes do not have their emissions tested as part of the MOT and there are load of companies out there ‘de-catting’ bikes. Thanks for that. I've never been tempted to decat mine, it's loud enough already. But I wondered where things stood on that issue.
