Enjoy it is a great looking bike and a bargain I'm sure as many want the 650. Great fun tool!

Serving the public makes me want to spend the least amount of time possible in their company out of work. I finished work yesterday and took a long route home to watch the sun set. Spent the evening with the cat and dog till Mrs H finished her shift. Nothing wrong with being a little different to the rat race. It would be a boring place if we were all the same

Should be fine I think it will run through with no issues. I might put some fence care in mine and try a spray tan

Great post back and let us know how it goes

Looking at their website there is a page about motorcycle use so should work, it mentions hearing it up and applying with a paint brush. If it protects marine craft should stop rusting on motorbikes. Now I have my electrical sprayer ill stick to using the acf in that as I had great results
-
Yes it was for me it's usually a pain in the arse task this made light work of it plus the sprayer will have many other uses

I've not used my tracer for a week or so, it had a good clean and dry last time in preparation of a good coat of acf. Well today I had opportunity and use a sprayer to apply it. I bought the terratek sprayer in the pictures from Amazon for just over £30 and was sceptical as to whether it would work but I have to say it was amazing. The acf misted out nicely I used a lot less than normal and got greater coverage especially in those hard to get places. As per other modes of application I stood the acf in hot water to aid its application. I'll be using this again and the sprayer came with 2 liquid bottles. The instructions state it can be used for a lot of other applications so seems like good value to me. Might be worth a punt for those of you who ride all year round and want to avoid a corroding bike through the winter.

ROYAL ENFIELD HIMALAYAN... ANYBODY GOT ONE / ARE THEY ANY GOOD??
MikeHorton replied to detainer's topic in Motorbike Chat
That's great news and the way it should be I had to sort caliper issues myself under warranty. Clearly QB motorcycles in the west mids did not want my business I know a few vespa owners that say the same. It's so important to have a good dealer I'm lucky now DMC motorcycles have been great with my current bike. Royal Enfield needs to open up their dealer network more to give more choice and competition there are no other dealers local to me which was a shame. Seems the new 650s are in a other league in terms of reliability etc but the first product if the new bruntingthorpe setup I suppose. -
ROYAL ENFIELD HIMALAYAN... ANYBODY GOT ONE / ARE THEY ANY GOOD??
MikeHorton replied to detainer's topic in Motorbike Chat
I had one for 18 months and put 9k miles on it. In general great bike even for 2 up touring, changed a few things like the pads for sintered ones which were an improvement. And added hand guards and Oxford grips. I had issues of misting clocks, corrosion on the pannier rails and gear selector sensor issues. I kept on top of the maintainance but met a brick wall with the dealership, eventually getting the stuff sorted. I'm sure if I had another dealer it wouldn't have been the issue it we as I know cooperb are great dealers. I chopped mine in for a tracer 900gt as the wife and I do a lot more touring now. I think royal Enfield would have been better spending another 500 to a grand on better quality on some parts and it would have been spot on. For what you want it will tour just fine it can go up to 80 but cruises nicely at 60-65 -
You can't ne done for speeding You could have been charged with cycling furiously to which camera evidence and police witnesses could have attested too, it only carries a maximum 2years sentence I know you can't be done for speeding on a push bike, nor can you be done for being drunk. A mate was stopped by the police whilst riding home from the pub and they used the Victorian law of riding furiously on the public highway. Unless you are a clergyman and then you can quote the offences against the person act 1861 which states that is an offence to obstruct a clergyman in the performance of their duties...even if they are drunk in charge of a bicycle and going too fast. There are some great antique offences, I still love S4 vagrancy act 1824 a good old Georgian offence of being on enclosed premises for unlawful purpose. An Act for the Punishment of idle and disorderly Persons, and Rogues and Vagabonds, in England.

Stands a chance the instructors like you to look for the overtakes and follows and demonstrate it. Or as previously said running the vehicle through but most forces use mobiles now for checks.

That sums it up quite well! On the point of the Chinese made stuff it all depends what you want, you want to buy cheap they make cheap. You want quality they can make it and usually undercut others, a lot of the raw materials they have access to. I used to be an engineer and China does make some good stuff but some chinese owners also like the provenance of certain things and prefer they are made where they should be. I find American owned companies the worst for buying a Company for what it is and then totally ruining it by cost cutting making it a totally different entity

I have a nice 1992 Seiko Chronograph 6M23-7000 Intelligent calender picked up at a flea market in 2013 was a real steal for £100 it was like new. My day to day watches are a Timex explorer a 20 quid bargain from decathlon and a Casio solar watch. My latest addition is a Russian Vostok divers wind up which keeps great time and are meant to be quite robust.

A new 1050xt?

I bought a little virago 250 in 1995 just passed my test, didn't set the world on fire but was super reliable and great quality. No issues even in the winter if well maintained. I believe the 250 engine is being recarnated in the lexmoto vendetta. I'd imagine you would need the 750 at least for longer tours but as said need to try for yourself and maybe get advice from some virago clubs or forums

I've owned a tracer 900gt for about 14 months now and I'm just short of 8k miles on it with some fresh tyres now. I can't really grumble about the bike, it's been great for commuting touring and pillion touring. The only moan would be the screen which I swapped for an mra vario which is much better. I can't fault the suspension or engine, the ft has adjustable front and rear and the mechanic at the dealership set it up for me for 50/50 solo and pillion riding and it handles perfect now. I've used the tracer through summer and harsh winter. Other then some slight dulling on a few fasteners there has been no issues and I've used acf50 over the winter. The engine is great for commuting, cruising and some fast riding really flexible. There are 3 rider modes standard is great for most riding B for the winter on slippy roads and A is out and out sports riding but the throttle is too anarchy for me and I don't use that mode. Try a demo at the time the tiger 900 wasn't out id say that too looks a great bike and the engine too gets some great reviews ultimately it's a test ride that will make your mind up.

Helmet comms - low price options
MikeHorton replied to jedibiker's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
From my previous post I said I would review the parani Comms kit I bought and here it is. The quality seemed great, everything fitted on my lid perfectly and paired to my phone just fine. All worked as it should with exception of the Intercom which was the sole reason for purchase so I could chat to my wife whilst on the back. Not wanting to give up on them I tried customer support I my to find it was a page of details to be filled in with pretty much every detail except what I had for breakfast! This was too much faf so I posted it back to Amazon. These are made by Sena but clearly the lack of customer support was surprising. Next I looked to another cost effective option and £135 later I purchased a pair of cardio scala rider q1's. They are designed as a cheaper option just to link a rider and pillion, mobile phone usage and music/radio streaming. I wasn't bothered about music just the intercom and accepting any urgent phone calls, they can't pair with other intercomms but again not an issue as I'm not looking to do that. All fitted well and set up in less than 10 minutes. After a 6 hour trial to Wales and back I can report they did the job perfectly with a battery time to spare. In short a great value budget option which fits the bill. I'm guessing these were the price they were as they were produced until 2017 and have been sat in a warehouse somewhere. Great eBay seller who I had to contact for advice when I couldn't find the one little box hidden in the main box, and a full guarantee given. -
I'll 2nd the Avon's I've had Avon spirits fitted to my tracer 900gt and they are amazing in all weathers the standard fit Dunlop 222"s were less than good. I went with these on advice of the dealers who rated them and assured me I'd get greater wear out of them. I guess it depends on the type of bike as to what works, I had Metzler tourance fitted to my Himalayan and again they seemed the perfect fit. If you find a good tyre for your bike stick with it

I've just ordered 2 of these seemed well priced. I only really need them for when my wife is with me. Otherwise I'm quite happy not to really speak to anyone, listen to music or take calls etc. I think these are a bit limited in terms of you can only link to 2 other parani sets so not for everyone. But just over £100 for the pair seemed reasonable and ticked all the boxes for me. https://eu.parani.com/
