Rode to the Piston Club with a few mates & watched them eat an £8 fry up + £3 for Coffee. 1st time I’ve been there, looks like a nice set up, here’s some pictures:-

Exactly what my potential choice of decal supply said. I’ve got quality ( AKA expensive ) base paint and lacquer. I went to a respected paint supplier with the base colour code I wanted & used their advice about the most suitable petrol resistant lacquer I could get without going to 2 pack.

I’m having a go at rattle can painting a motor cycle tank, I have got it prepped & a couple of coats of etch primer flatted down. Next up is the base coat ( when it warms up a bit ) I am going to procure some vinyl decals & will make sure they are the type that can be lacquered over … The question is: Do I apply the decals to the base coat & then lacquer over or lacquer then apply decals & lacquer again? Thanks

Honda Shadow 1985 - ULEZ
Mickly replied to Cher Davis's topic in Old Motorbikes, Projects and Restorations
You could just take your bike to be tested at a ULEZ test centre “The test takes 30 minutes on our rolling road and costs £175 - which you only pay if your bike passes” So the test ( if it passes ) is equivalent to 14 days ULEZ charge at the current rate. -
Any recommendations on a very fine body filler for a fibreglass tank cover - only very small imperfections on the join as per photo Or just use epoxy resin ( Araldite ) & sand down? Ta

H’mm how do they distinguish between Route & Rout? As my understanding is that Americans pronounce Route “Rowt” and Rout is also pronounced “Rowt” where as in proper English Route is pronounced “Root” which couldn’t ever be confused with Root

Oh & don’t call Americans W️S, most of them DO know what it means these days

The model specific F650GS forum has been a god send & all the things I’ve asked have been covered before & some kind soul usually points me in the right direction, it is quite quiet but not surprising given the age of the bikes. The only snippy reply I got was when I commented on how much had gone wrong with the bike since I’ve been green laning on it ( had to describe to some people what that meant ) the reply was “ you’ve bought the wrong 20 year old bike, what do you expect?” And tbh .. they’re right

Temporary Puncture Repair -Tubed Tyre
Mickly replied to Mickly's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
Interesting but unfortunately not a tubed tyre -
Being in the Midlands I had a huge choice of materials & finishes available to me locally, I mean, bolts … that what we do best

Zippys centre stand wasn’t folding as freely as it should and as I’d read somewhere that the pivot bolts are prone to corrosion and snapping I thought I’d take the stand off and grease things off … a 20min job … like Fcuk was it, after much cursing, squirting of penetrating oil & hammering I finally got the bloody things out … good job I did, look at the state of this … after being wire brushed Getting new bolts tomorrow.

Interesting choice of words ‘Plan to ever carry a pillion passenger?’ Surely a defence would be “I didn’t plan to, but needed to on the spur of the moment”

Went out with some of WestMids TRF for a 5 hour run, tipped off 6 times, beached on logs 3 times - Mud & ruts were killers, Zippy really isn’t made for this, but if I didn’t have an unsuitable bike, the only excuse would be a lack of skill … which is the truth. At home with beer & a roast on the way. The ground clearance is not good, need to look at suspension settings… I’m not as fat as the photo shows … I’ve got body armour on
