We are asking all members to act now by signing the ‘Bikes in Bus Lanes’ petition. The petition is on the official Parliamentary Petitions website and will take up less than a minute of your time to complete. • Follow the link below: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/614294 • Click on the green “Sign this petition” button. • Enter your details and then click the green “Continue” button. • You will then receive an email with a link that you must follow to confirm your signature on the petition. • In addition to signing the petition yourself, please ask someone else (e.g. a family member, friend or work colleague) to do the same. They don’t need to ride themselves; they just need to support your request to have default access in bus lanes. It may help to point out the advantages of bikes being in bus lanes (i.e. not taking up space in other lanes). Signing this petition is important and can make a real difference. Colin Brown is pushing for a meeting with the Department for Transport (DfT) to discuss the detail of how such a policy can be introduced. Colin will be highlighting the Petition and noting that the Government will be obliged to formally respond when we break the 10,000-signature target for a Parliamentary response. We are looking for a meaningful result, rather than a formulaic brush off. Wales and Scotland could not be specifically listed on the petition due to the devolved nature of transport policy. Northern Ireland already permits access to all of their bus lanes. If we get a positive result for England, it will assist our case in making the same arguments in Wales and Scotland. Please sign the petition whether the outcome will help you as an individual or not. We need to get this petition over the line for the collective benefit of all riders. Thank you for your support. I’m not sure how many mpg I get from the mighty Speedtriple…. I only care when I’m getting short of fuel, on a recent trip I noticed that the low fuel light was on & the dash said 15 miles left ( Shows that my concentration was on other things ) By sticking to a steady progress I was able to get to a fuel stop with a predicted 25 miles left

Fixed that for you

As you ride a Harley, just wear your ‘cut’ wrap around shades, wallet chain, bandanna & park where you’d cause the most inconvenience.. don’t forget to stare into the distance & practice your sneer & you’ll be ok

Home, but might have lost it on any of the last couple of ride outs.

Me (I think?) cleaning the flies off my visor & realised that my Cardo unit was missing from its base !!! Fuk, fuk, fukkity fuk It’s probably beside the road somewhere & considering that it’s been a couple of weeks since I used it for satnav it could be anywhere! Must have not clipped it in properly I gues.

When I took my test it didn’t go swimmingly ( another story ), after it was over the examiner asked me what I had been doing wrong constantly through my test .. I was gutted and confessed I hadn’t a clue … he pointed at my trainers & said “get some flipping proper boots … congratulations you’ve passed” I did !!

Triumph Trophy Engine Strip
Mickly replied to Mickly's topic in Old Motorbikes, Projects and Restorations
When I eventually start it up the oil will get hot & therefore a bit thinner & more likely to leak. “Under pressure” was indeed the wrong term, ‘circulating’ is a better description of what I meant. The Trophy has a dipstick ( no not the owner ) and it shows just over full, I expect this to go down once it’s coated the inside of the engine ( as oppose to the outside ! ) -

So, 3.75 litres of proper spec oil & no leaks from the sump … it obviously not under pressure & hot but it’s a small win -
Some bikes hold water around the spark plugs ( I’m looking at you Triumph Triples !! ) so whipping them out on a yearly basis is a good way of making sure they don’t get corroded & seized in, this can cause you a world of hurt.

I have made a change - Binder out & Miller in, gotta be the right thing to do… right?

Triumph Trophy Engine Strip

Sump is now fitted with a smear of gasket sealant & no sign of any stripped threads, I’ll fill it with oil tomorrow .. if @Mississippi Bullfrogwould say a prayer for me I would appreciate it -

I’m taking the sump off I noticed that the two central bolts weren’t winding out … My heart sunk & sure enough the threads were stripped - I’d torqued them up and at the time thought that they couldn’t possibly tight enough - luckily I didn’t do them by feel or I might have stripped the lot !! So I purchased a 6mm Helicoil kit However my drill was too long to fit vertically under the bike After a bit of head scratching I ground some flats onto the shank if the drill so it would hold in my tap wrench and slowly ream out the holes, periodically ensuring it was going in at 90* to the surface. Note the tape around the drill indicating the depth of the hole. A very slow process but ultimately effective Holes with Helicoil marked up Now to refit the sump
