  1. It's from Shakespeare's Hamlet, the 2B or not 2B speech which was something about pencils. Shakespeare coined lots of words. He made up several to fit into lines where the correct word didn't fit right. Ay, there's the rub
  2. Don't refuse to pay it. It'll bite you in the arse later on. If you think the bill is wrong then call them and tell them you've not used that much energy. If you provide a reading then you can get the bill adjusted. If your direct debit is too high again call them. We argued against our DD being increased and they left it as is.
  3. Honestly I wouldn't wear a wooden sweater. It'd probably be a bit stiff and a fire hazard. Then there's the chance of splinters.
  4. I did have a look at the 650f. It's a nice bike but I couldn't really see the benefit of the extra cost other than a newer licence plate. It's got less power and slightly heavier, non adjustable forks and I don't like the display. The newer 650r is a great looking bike but for a first big bike I think a used bike rather than new is probably best.
  5. After being on my 125 for 2 years I decided to take the plunge and upgrade. I wanted something sporty looking but comfortable to use daily so decided on the CBR600F. It's fantastic bang for your buck and ticks all the boxes for what I wanted. I've had it a few weeks now and really enjoying it.
  6. I have a Oxford hinterland jacket. It's laminated so it doesn't let in the wet like a liner would. Also the removable thermal layer is quite good. I commute on my bike so I'll probably invest in a heated jacket, gerbing is looking like the one I'll go with. I already have heated grips. My boots are by Merlin and have an outlast liner which I think is fantastic. I wear the same boots all year round and my feet are always comfortable.
  7. Having an tracker like monimoto would alert you to any movement of your bike in the night. Some locks would then slow down theives and give you a chance to save your bike. There's internal barriers like a pole that goes across the inside of the garage door. But that's expensive so depends on budget
  8. You were lucky to find it quick and not too much damage. I wonder if they stashed it to see if there was a tracker or just crashed it and ran. Lesson learned for you anyway. Get it in your garage and put every lock you own on it.
  9. Been in Ireland for the last week. There's a lot of bikers about mostly British and German around the tourist spots
  10. I did this on a previous bike. Bought a new bike, got it during a bright summer's day Didn't have parking lights before. Locked up the bike, turned the key and left the bike sitting for a few days as I was away. Came home to a dead battery. Had to get the AA to jump it. Rode about for an hour. Never had an issue after
  11. I've had this several times since the change in rules. Cars overcompensate how much space to give. Then they end up on the wrong side of the road playing chicken with me or whatever else is coming towards them. I've had to manoeuvre out of the way a few times now when cars are coming towards me
  12. Definitely do this, especially for the ninja. I looked at them a while ago and they were extremely expensive to insure. The 650 was actually cheaper to cover. Also from what onesea said. I had a 125 for nearly 3 years and sold it for the same price I bought it. Get a good condition used Japanese 125 and learn the basics and once you keep it in one piece you'll easily sell it for no loss or maybe a little less than you bought it for.
  13. I'll nominate the tour bus that decided to do a u turn on a main road into London at 8am this morning, got stuck and blocked 5 lanes of commuter traffic.
  14. These are 24% off on Amazon at the moment.
  15. Thanks everyone. Tyre will stay put for now. And as Mississippi Bulldog said I have a new wear indicator now
  16. Yeah I think you're right about that. Added now.
  17. Doing a little check over on the bike and saw a stone bedded in the front tyre. There's good amount of thread and the tyres not squared off. The lighting make it look a bit square. The hole is about 1.5 or 2mm deep Should I have this looked at or potentially replaced. Or am I being a bit paranoid.
  18. I tried a shad 40l bag and it ticks all the boxes but is uncomfortable to wear. I've been following some kriega kit on eBay. That might do the job of getting a good bag under RRP. If not I'll consider buying the bullet and forking out £200.
  19. I've an hour commute and half that's motorways. Definitely need something waterproof
  20. So far I've looked at the following https://www.xlmoto.co.uk/mc-gear/bags_c2568/backpacks_c2024/xlmoto-h2o-waterproof-backpack_pid-PM-3915473 https://www.getgeared.co.uk/products/eigo-waterproof-wet-backpack-30l-black?variant=43178648338654&currency=GBP&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&utm_source=google&utm_medium=paid&utm_campaign=17330841291&utm_content=135770232863&utm_term=&gadid=600313765329&gclid=Cj0KCQjwxveXBhDDARIsAI0Q0x0fDWs3hUfUQiUyzyUwmWNoqjHxzC2NL5jV8Dlnkr0iWoYA_VRXjhEaAlHxEALw_wcB https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/457277 https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/505332
  21. I have but I think for an hour or so commute I can walk out of work and go with a rucksack on already. I tried a shad 40l tail pack but it wouldn't sit right without extra fitments
  22. With summer coming to a close and me getting absolutely soaked on the way home from work yesterday, I think it's time to sort out some weatherproof luggage for my commute. I usually have a laptop, a change of clothes, waterproof overalls, lunch box and some small misc bits. My previous bike had a top box which would solve the issue but I've a nice CBR 600 now and a box wouldn't look right on it. I recon I need about 30-35l bag. Must be waterproof and ideally have a secondary compartment to throw wallet, cards keys etc in. £100 should be enough to spend on a rucksack. Any suggestions?
  23. On my ride into London this morning, on the motorway an Uber in lane 3 missed his turn off. Traffic was a little busy but moving along at 70mph. Driver decided to swing across three lanes and try make the turn. He pulled in front of a car in lane 2 and a large truck and trailer in lane 1 nearly hitting both. Truck slammed his brakes, smoke from the tyres, truck cabin shaking (nobody behind me so I slowed well down in lane 2). In the end the guy didn't make his turn, pulled back out into traffic and sat in lane 3. I've no camera but wish I did. Incredibly dangerous driving. Could have been very serious.
