  1. Almost got scammed today. As I am retrieving my bike tomorrow decided I'd update my Tom Tom GPS. Went on line with my lap top and was on what I thought was the correct website. Ended up having a long discussion and started getting twitchy when the guy on the phone (with an Indian accent) said he would have to access my laptop remotely and if there were any problems with my device it would cost £100 to fix. At that point I said I'd buy a new one instead whereupon he immediately killed the phone connection. The horse having well and truly bolted by that point I did a bit of research and apparently the web is full of product support scammers. Something to be aware of if you are ever looking for tech support. Even Microsoft suffers from it according to their website.
  2. Actually parts of milford haven are pretty damned nice, particularly further up the bay. Used to visit it regularly when had a boat.
  3. I believe he had taken on a few litres of the local red wine or possibly slivovitz which would turn anyone a little crazy.
  4. Its not the place where an Italian tourist broke in at night and for some reason was riding his bike bare-assed naked when he hit a deer? Fell off my perch when one of my mates told me that one.
  5. What were you doing in Haiti ffs?? It was an absolute shit hole of a place in 1980, doubt its got better since.
  6. Bennett's. Good to deal with. Like everyone its personal. As to breakdown cover its a common part of insurance but sometimes its an optional extra.
  7. Yeah I've had some decent deals from them over the years.
  8. The multistrada isn't exactly a tearaway's bike but in some of our more upmarket Cotswold villages (more Dave Cameron than Farmer Giles) on overrun when it bubbles and pops i have noticed the odd poodle and / or blue rinsed matron to snarl and yap.
  9. Most sales are the same. Whether they are on line or walk-in shops most of the items on sale are unsold stock for a reason. They are either odd sizes, ex-display, returns or just plain hideous which no normal person would buy. Occasionally retailers have 20% off everything sales but then that's usually only off the mrp which is frequently not the price retailers sell at. One reason i like Motolegends is their sales are genuine.
  10. Cos they are even more expensive and in addition to all the usual ways of killing yourself you can drown as well. Some of them also have a fuel consumption running more like gallons per mile.
  11. Just had a Stroud Breweries Budding Ale. Not a hot beverage but an excellent beer.
  12. If they can afford the insurance. Nevermind though, when you win the lottery you can go and buy a boat with a 1000 hp and go tearing around wherever you like in the sea. Probably kill yourself and someone else but no licence or training is required by law. If you don't keep your boat in a marina you don't even need insurance.
  13. Seeing my granddaughter for the first time since July as the family reckon I am not plague infested.
  14. In the UK we were always suckers for EU rules. Brussels would make up some impossible shite and we'd try and follow it to the letter. The rest of them would "yeah whatever" and go their own way.
  15. Not really. Ducato have released the V4 Multistrada which is 1150 cc or thereabouts. Its Euro5 compliant. And the new big Triumph Rocket III is too and you don't get much bigger than that!
  16. Warm and Safe base layer from Motolegends. Just have to work out how to install the controller into aforementioned electrics.
  17. Interested to see how long it lasts as longevity and build quality of Chinese stuff isn't always the best. Personally I won't be buying one as I've been gifted something a bit better.
  18. Hmph. Everything i fancied was either already sold out or the wrong size. Nice gear though.
  19. About 250 miles if I take the quick boring route on the motorway. Various interesting options are available but given the weather and the short days I'll probably stick with boring.
  20. Nope, my daughter lives there and so does my bike when I'm away.
  21. Picking my bike up from Barnard Castle on Tuesday. Weather looks crap. Booked in for service on Wednesday then good to go. Have good base layers at least.
  22. Actually modern Ducati's don't have Italian electrics they're Bosch; I've had no issues with mine so far.
  23. If you grew up on vaux ales you've no right to cast aspersions on other folks choice of beverage. As to a good strong coffee without milk or sugar - the only way to start the day.
