  1. The Volkswagen Van that went up Zig Zag Hill at 5 mph. Had to go down it and go up it again.
  2. Rode it via Portbury, Bristol, Bath, Shaftesbury and Zig Zag Hill then on to Salisbury and then Stockbridge where I'm having lunch. Then off to Kingston on Thames where I'll be putting it to bed. Going to need a thorough wash though as it's filthy.
  3. Last spring and summer was bloody wet. The only difference you didn't get cold while getting the bike filthy and it was generally salt free.
  4. Fitted a side stand extender.
  5. Need to get heated seats.
  6. I'll add that one to my vocabulary and probably add it to my professional one as well as there's quite a few of them floating around.
  7. One reason for putting off retirement as long as I possibly can is because my wife has an ever increasing list of "when you retire" jobs. As it is I have the best of both worlds - work 6 months of the year doing something I mostly enjoy and then spend 6 months of the year lolling about "resting" from my labours. Occasionally get stuck with a bit of painting or gardening but nothing too burdensome.
  8. Familiar with all of them. I'm generally an ATGATT fellow and there's more than a few SMIDSY types round here.
  9. We're not allowed to use plastic carrier bags but the amount of plastic wrapping is ridiculous. Non recyclable either in most cases. Cheese wrapped in waxed paper with an inner plastic wrapping is my particular irritation.
  10. Good afternoon. Just spent the last couple of days in London being exposed to culture by my wife. British Museum was okay and enjoyed the Roman Army exhibition. Courtaulds Gallery was a grind and the miles of London streets were mostly interesting. But..... I didn't hear a single "Cockney" accent the whole time. The place has certainly changed over the last 20 years or so.
  11. A lot of dogs are cleaner than some of the customers I've seen in some pubs.
  12. I've a set of Bluetooth ear plugs that allow my GPS to talk to me and my phone too with music etc if I want. I usually don't.
  13. I think opening the back door was harmless and hopefully irritating to the car driver. I tend to.limit myself to beeping my horn and / or traditional gestures of annoyance.
  14. Absolutely vicious looking beast. Like this one devouring his victim.
  15. As a new convert to Guzzis I'd like to say Guzzi for my choice. However I reckon my infatuation with ADV bikes is over. The top heavy design they all share isn't appealing.
  16. This weekend I'll be taking my bike over to my daughter's for its secure parking while I'm away. Weather permitting I'll take the scenic route. At least by the time I get home in June the weather should be better!
  17. I had an Oxford cover and it shredded itself after a year. Bought one of those Chinese ones that were being pushed on here a few years back and it's still going strong. A third of the price of the Oxford one. My bike lives under its cover in all weathers so is exposed to the full range of British climate. Liked the Chinese one enough to have bought another one for the new bike as it packs small enough to take with me when travelling.
  18. Wasn't it supposed to damage alloys from the inside for tubeless tyres?
  19. Not sure but it looks a bit like my GPS power connection.
  20. He does say he wants a new bike in which case an approved Suzuki dealer would be a necessity?
  21. My kit doesn't change if its 5 miles, 500 miles or 1500 miles. Boring me.
  22. Pretty much what I have. One of each with large credit limits on each one so in worse case scenario I can get myself home from anywhere in the world. Don't like carrying large amounts of cash especially as I've had a wallet nicked in Madrid and Venice. Easy to stop a card. Like you I don't use a card to get cash overseas.
  23. That's pretty bad. Given that most lager tastes like piss anyway this could give that a whole new meaning. Recycling at its finest.
  24. I won't ask why you haven't a credit card but I couldn't survive without a credit card. Not that I load it with debt as I pay it off in full every month but when travelling its the easiest way to pay. As it is my wallet is cluttered with 4 different currencies in leftovers.
