Missed rear observations can be deemed as minor or major faults, but if ‘lifesavers’ before moving position are habitually missed this will be recorded as a serious fault (test fail)."

I may be wrong but I doubt that he would fail for just one missed lifesaver. .. May be it was just the straw that broke the camels back and he more minors than he wants to admit?

I was going around that speed for my emergency stop and nothing was said to me. I realized it was a bit too quick and dialed it down a bit too much for the avoidance and got a minor. The government website only states minimum speed for the maneuvers .. Apart from the slow ride no one has ever mentioned a maximum speed to me.

Passed mod one again today .. I was much more nervous today knowing that it could be a long wait for another go if I failed. It was much easier on the bigger bike and I got just 1 minor. When I did the emergency stop on the CG125 I only just made the speed. It must have played on my mind because on the bigger bike I whacked the throttle open coming off the bend and was doing close to 40mph through the speed trap. For the hazard avoidance I eased it down a little too much and got a minor. Who cares about a minor? Its a pass!

I'll add my vote for the CG too .. Mine's an ex riding school with 20,000 miles on the clock and had also been stored for several years. It has a few scratches but runs like a Swiss watch.

The first thing to check is availability of DAS courses and tests in your area .. With the covid backlog you may have a long wait! If you want to get riding quickly do your CBT and buy a Japanese 125.

I hope you're not in a rush! .. Bike schools near me a fully booked up because of lockdown and so is the test centre. Lockdown has caused a huge logjam of people trying to get their bike licence. You could make a start by getting your CBT done.

Well, they all have to meet the safety standards to be sold in the UK. You can buy an open face helmet that costs £500 .. or a full face for £50... You pays your money and takes your chances.

No, not really. She could ride a bike but she wasn't what I would call a cyclist. My son was the same, like a duck to water,(he is a good car driver though). When he was 12 I took him to a place in NZ for off road riding. They gave him 15 minutes training on the gears and then he was off up into the hills for 2/3 hours trail riding.

You would think so but my daughter was crap at driving a car but took to a motorcycle like a duck to water! .. I can only think that it was because on a bike you are much more aware of what's going on around you.

I've always been very particular when picking times for tests! .. I like 11:15. It gives me time to have a good breakfast then go for a ride without having to wait around all day and having it play on my mind. Which bike did you take it on? ..I would think your CG would be best for slow stuff.

I'm not sure that Gore-tex is any more waterproof than many other products .. I was under the impression that its main selling point was its breathability allowing the wearers sweat to evaporate.

CBT may not be enough for some .. But why is it that anyone over 21 who has held a licence for 3 years can teach someone to drive a car! Yet to teach someone to ride a motorcycle you must be a qualified intructor?
