  1. Sorry to hear that. When I was doing my DAS I was on a CB650R and the other person was on the Z650. We swapped bikes at the end of the second day just to see what the 'other' bike was like and it put me off the Z650. Quite a lot of vibrations which the silky 4 pot didn't have. Did the training company give you a ride around the area before the test? They normally do this on at least one of the possible routes the test centre uses. You won't always be riding familiar roads, so paying attention to the small details are to bits that make a difference.
  2. Just for Stu.... It's now back home under a cover as it's raining
  3. I just didn't feel comfortable with the power delivery, being almost double what I had ridden to that point. I had played with the 3 modes, maybe (rightly or not) I was too nervous of it
  4. Up early tomorrow to sadly get on public transport to go collect my new to me Tracer 700. I'll be putting pictures up just for Stu as he's a little sensitive about posts about new bikes without pictures The joke part is that the 700 was more expesive than the 900 to insure, but I just didn't feel right on the 900.
  5. That sucks. I found the avoidance swerve tighter at the training centre than at the test pad. I know this sounds silly, but book a sneeky test on your 125 as it's only £15. If you can get it sorted on the 125 a bigger bike will be that bit easier. Keep your chin up.
  6. So the time has come to part ways with the trusty machine that I have had for a little over a year whilst I completed and obtained my full license. The bike is a 2019 model Yamaha MT-125 on a 2020 plate (late registration), so still has until June 2022 for warranty. It's currently on 6214 which will increase slightly upto this weekend when I collect my new ride. The bike has recently had a new JL HD chain and sprockets fitted and an 1800 mile oil service (last weekend) completed by the dealer I purchased it from. It is also fitted with some grip puppies which are easily removed if needed. The only down side is that the rear wheel has some paint chipping due to the original security chain I was using. The bike is finance free and I have been the only owner from new. It also has a DataTool tracker fitted for security piece of mind. I would like £3500 which seems to be the average going rate that I can find.
  7. If you can go for a ride on the A86 from Fort William/Spean Bridge up to Dalwhinnie. Stopping at Laggan Dam for a touristy pic.
  8. Deposit down on my first big bike. Tracer 700 which I'll be picking up next Saturday. Pray for sunshine if you could.
  9. I've been riding a little over a year and a month ago passing my DAS to full license. Take your time, ride to YOUR limits not your mates that you're out with. Don't beat yourself if you make a mistake, even experienced riders still make them from time to time. Not that they will ever admit it Don't ride too close to whatever is in front of you. Being a cental London rider this can be awkward at times. Ease off when it's wet. Ride as though no one has seen you. I know it's easy to just grab your lid and ride in normal jeans and trainers, but dont. Wear the proper kit, it doesn't have to cost a fortune but the right gear will help if it goes wrong. I used the Theory 4 in 1 app, which not only covers bikes but cars, PSV and lorry. The questions are VERY close to those in the exam along with the hazard avoidance videos too. Only costs a couple of quid for the full version.
  10. Oil change service at the stealers, then off to look at an M07, but a few rust spots putting me off. So back to the dealers from the morning and test rode a Tracer 900..... bit too much for me at this stage of my riding experience
  11. Bemoto show the same issue as other sites!
  12. Will give them a call tomorrow Pie man
  13. Sadly most of the insurance companies I'm getting quotes from don't see it this way.
  14. OK this might be a bit more than the machinist could handle. Sorry
  15. what size are the items you want doing? I might know of a machine
  16. I got what I thought was a sensible quote on a 2017 Tracer 700, look at a 2018 for the same value and the quote almost doubled! Same model, same engine, same power, same value.... work that out if you can!
  17. The insurance game is a massive ripoff! I have a years no claims but under my CBT license, now I have my full license that year of no claims makes ZERO difference! It's one big scam!
  18. Been out looking for my first big bike, but finding insurance such a scam!
  19. congrats.... time to go bike shopping (although there's not much about)
  20. A little trip to my local J&S to get some chain lube, then back home for a clean and application. Been using Wruth dry wax, but gone for some Silkolene lube which looks a lot wetter.
  21. If you do the mod 1/2 on a 125, all you'll be licensed to ride is 125's. If you are under 24 you'll be limited to the lower A2 license around 47bhp. If you do the tests on an unlimited bike and are over 24 you'll get the full A licence and can ride whatever you want. Both mod 1 and 2 have to be on the same level bike.
  22. Just register your vehicles on the .gov website and they will text you reminders before it expires.
  23. Went for a little trip up north to about 15 miles north or Morpeth for a weekends clay shooting, so wasn't on the bike. Beautiful part of the world, some cracking roads if you're in that neck of the woods. Will certainly be having a tour up that way if I can every get a quote that's not going to bankrupt me.
  24. Day off, so as I cant get a quote for anything bigger than my already insured 125 I thought I'd go for a ride..... SE London down to headcorn aerodrome to watch some fools jumping out of a perfectly fine plane and some doing some wing walking then down to Rye and onto Dungeness for a nice break then along to Hythe and back home up the M20.... Yes I'm shocked that I had to put the poor little 125 on the motorway, but it held 70 most of the way until it found a hill or two. On the way back the oil service light started so I'll get that booked next week.
  25. Me..... thinking I'd be able to get a sensible quote for something around 700cc! By all accounts my 1 year of riding counts for nothing as I've only just got my full license!
