  1. Just took and passed my theory test.... Now to book some DAS and get on a real bike. Time to go get in a pub, seeing as they close early these days. Fish
  2. Spent the morning trying to align the rear wheel/chain.... So bare with me on this one as I'm still so new to all this two wheeled thing. Got my alignment laser this week (got to love a new toy to play with) as I wasn't 100% that the rear wheel was in alignment, it had a weird looseness at times when cornering. I dropped by the supplying dealer the other week and they couldn't be arsed/not interested and just put it down to me not knowing what I'm talking about. So I put the bike up on the rear stand and loosened the axel nut, two long breaker bars required there! Put the laser on the cog and by a quarter of the way up the chain it had gone from outside to in, but the time it was reaching the front it was well off and onto the chassis. So I grab a couple of spanners to adjust the lock nut and adjuster, only to find that the lock nut was about 4 full turns away from locked. Having never done anything like this it took me a while to get my head around which way they work to adjust to get things lining up and tightened up. Check again and it's now from the outside of the chain at the rear cog to about the middle of the chain at the front cog. Is this straight enough? Took it for a ride to Rykers (60 mile round trip) and it still doesn't feel quite right... Maybe it's now my head that has a looseness, or should I get it double checked by someone who know's what they are doing? Fish
  3. Sadly the exhaust is in the way on the offside. Off to buy a sprocket laser (also love a gadget). Fish
  4. I'm tempted by those little disc locks after watching some reviews on them. Fish
  5. Have to replace the brakes on the sisters car as she's too tight to pay garage and I'm free Fish
  6. So what's the better option, laser or metal rod attachment? Thanks Fish
  7. I will hopefully be booked onto a Bike Safe course if they can work out the voucher I have received from TFL. Their website isn''t accepting it Fish
  8. I've got a Richa Infinity 2, not the cheapest but also not the most expensive either. Clicky Link, but follow the SportsBikeShop link then search for it there. It's a 3 layer jacket, as in you can remove the body warmer and raining section to make it a summer jacket, then at this time of year I've put the rain inner jacket in. Plenty warm enough even on these starting to get nippy mornings. Fish
  9. OK so the boots are starting to kick up a bit, so I'm currently using some teabags (PG's finest) which do help to keep them under control to some degree. What's you're process? Fish
  10. Teach me your secret to a quick turnaround
  11. Finished work early so went for an evening ride out. I did find out what it's like to find a run of gravel in the middle of the lane, which gave a little scare. Fish
  12. Hi guys n girls, firstly I'm not sure if this is permitted so remove if not and sorry. In September I'm doing an abseil down the 17 floors of the Royal London Hospital for the London Air Ambulance. I hope that none of us ever need the services they provide, but I for one am thankful they are there. So if you can spare a cuppa or pint for a worthy cause it will be most welcome and if I ever get to meet you I'll buy you a beer or cuppa. Clicky link Thanks Fish
  13. Failed the theory test this morning by 1 on the multiple choice. 42 out of 50, pass is 43. Hazard perception was a clean 60 out of 70. Just booked again I cant take it again until October! How the feck is this an emergency booking. (I work for central government) Fish
  14. Congrats, ennjoy the extra power in the wrist Fish
  15. I hope you gave him a reward from the wifes purse. Fish
  16. Got my theory test on Saturday morning, but if I didn't have that I'd be booked on a bikesafe day courtesy of TFL. Fish
  17. Nob of the day goes to the few GS riders on the way to work this morning. One was sitting on my arse so close I was scared to brake, even when I stopped at a set of lights his front wheel was 3 inches from my exhaust. The second almost took me out whilst filteting as I didn't appear to be going quick enough for him. I thought these fecking L plates are meant to mean something. Really pissed me off. Fish

    beirut explosion

The news was saying it was a boat carrying fireworks. Just that shockwave would have killed anyone in at least a 5 block radius surely. Fish
  19. Whilst looking at the bikesafe and other courses about I came across this video which might be of use to those new on the road like myself. It gives some nice clear errors and solutions on common mistakes we might make. Fish
  20. I did purchase from a shop and not online, which is why I will be giving them a call tomorrow to see what they say. It wasn't SBS as they are too far away when I can't use motorways on the bike. Fish
  21. The ride home was weird... I couldn't hear the bike anywhere near as much as I can in the Scorpion, but the wind noise was next level. I don't wear plugs at the moment as most of my riding is commuting into London, so mostly below 30. The ride back from the shop was NSL and the wind was way louder. I will see what the shop says on Monday about it. Fish
  22. So my helmet's (Scorpion EXO) has a padding issue so is going back for a warranty repair. By all accounts it's a known fault. So I had to get a temp/second lid whilst that one's off. HJC RHPA 11 was what fitted amongst the best. I also fitted my grip puppies so I'll see how they go on Monday. Fish
  23. Thanks for all the replies. Payday tomorrow = shopping day Fish
  24. OK on the search for a good rear paddock stand for helping with the maintenance of the bike. The bike only has a side stand so I'm in need of recommendations to lift the rear wheel. It doesn't have any locations to fit bobbins, so I'd have to get something from R&G is that is the option. Thanks Fish

    Scammers

There's a fairly decent looking TV Licensing email doing the rounds at the moment. Warn your older parents who buy the license online. Fish
