Since going to see Barenaked Ladies last year we've been rediscovering their older albums although their most recent has to be one of my top for recent years. "> Madness! Their '09 album 'The Liberty of Norton Folgate' is brilliant. Can not get enough. "> Loudon Wainwright III, only recently rediscovered (my dads been a fan forever) "> Other than that, can go wrong with a bit of electro Fischerspooner Daft Punk I saw Louden Wainwright lll at Birmingham Town Hall in the early 1970’s if memory serves me correct. He was supporting Soft Machine. I rediscovered him a few years back. Quote

NeilM Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 I actually thought there was going to be a serious crush before this gig even started. 95. So before the control areas were set up etc. Normal Glastonbury crowd plus a shitload of footie lads. (I looked resplendent in a blue gingham ben sherman) Absolute chaos where we were. Been all over watching football/rugby/gigs but never before or since thought, shit. This is going to go wrong big style. Quote

Steve_M Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 (edited) In 1970, my parents moved to the village of Aldridge in the West Midlands. I was working in Walsall and had started making friends with a few lads. They suggested I turn up to the community centre on the weekend. I hadn’t had much of a social life outside scouts and judo, so this was a whole new experience, and not a bit unnerving. I can’t remember what I was expecting but it turned out that it was quite a venue for local acts. What an eye opener for a shy, nervous kid. One band that appeared was Slade. One question that gets asked is which band would you like to see (again?) at their peak. Slade, for me, are among the best I’ve seen. This came up on my iPod ...
