Still on the "learn to ride" mission with r kid. Back to another pump track early on before the bigger kids get out and about. Turns out the combination of relatively small declines followed by an incline are a great combination.

He's actually getting pretty good now.

We also keep stopping at most bike dealerships we see so I can admire all the goodies and he can practice not touching everything haha

Debating whether to change my tyres or not. 3.6mm tread left on both front & back & will be going 2k miles next week.

I've got T31 bridgestones, if anyone knows how long they last.

I will be fitting my Rhinowalk luggage to the XSR, then taking a ride down to the friend who I will be travelling to Portugal and sorting out the first nights accomodation, and also for the weekend of the WSBK.

Otherwise we'll be making it up as we go.

We'll be doing a compare of my Rhinowalk 20l against his Kriega US-20 pack. Yes I know the Kriega will be better, but just by how much is the question.

Checking original tread depth would give a good indication of life remaining.

The northerner in me would stick it out, the southerner would buy some expensive new rubber and a £13 pint while I waited

my local pub has £7 pints on Thursdays so don’t you worry!

Setting off for another tour of Scotland. My fourth in two years and the weather looks good. Hope to park up around Applecross just to hear the stags roar as they come into rut. A scary sound for those who haven't heard it before. Sheer drama!

Riding in a broadly west direction  from Santander until we either reach the west coast of Galicia or we get bored and decide to start our meandering route back towards the Pyrenees.

The Pyrenees roads are something else, spectacular! My experience was on a push bike but blasting down is a hell of a reward after the grueling climbs.

Id love to do a ride to a wsbk foreign (proper one) like a Spanish or Portugal event….😞. I had planned it was going to be a 40th thing but Covid thing and other life things dumped a shovel of shite on that idea afterwards.
Maybe a 50th when I’m too old and I don’t know these whipper snappers and only remember their dads and mums racing on on 1080 resolutions with questionable broadcasting from Eurosport 😅

They arrived today and they look and feel decent quality. Fitted the bags to the saddlebag mount and I think they will work out fine.

The Picos De Europa a bit further west aren't bad either.

The furthest west we’ve done to date is just south west of Ribadeo due to lack of time. I’ve allowed a bit more time this year in the hope that I can get across to around A Caruna or, at least, the coast thereabouts before wending our way back east to finish around Florac before a two day ride up to Rotterdam.

Agreed. This will be my fourth time (third as a couple) in the Pyrenees. This time, though, we’re staying on the French side - riding the Route Des Cols until Ax-Les-Therms (spelling?) then heading north to explore the roads along the Tarn.

Started off the weekend (sometimes I get lucky and start the weekend on Friday afternoon) with a short walk along the Blyth at Blythburgh. Got ridiculously lucky: saw lapwing, curlew, redshank, sandpipers, a pair of marsh harriers, a dozen spoonbills and an osprey.

That's some list, you couldn't have been luckier.

So today we are heading out on two wheel adventure, sadly, no ingines, cycling the 15 miles around Lady Bower and Derwent waters,  it was tother half's idea, we did this ride about a month ago,  i seem to remember a lot of winging on the back leg of the journey, clearly she doesn't, the upside is no intercom, so my plan is to stay 3 meters in front for that part of the route, in my own happy bubble, we will see how that works out!!!!

Saw a Sparrowhawk take down a pigeon last week, when it got it on the ground it abandoned it when a dog started barking. Then a little black cat appeared and dragged it off into a hedge. Nature at work.

She did amazingly well, rode up all but one of the Hill's and not one moan, very proud of her, great fun day out.  Scenery and sense of achievement good for the  soul.
