manxie49 Posted October 21, 2020 Posted October 21, 2020 I must be well behind the times .... How long have the Police been riding Panigales?? Or is this just a promotional stunt? Quote
raesewell Posted October 21, 2020 Posted October 21, 2020 The Police have to be able to keep up Quote
S-Westerly Posted October 21, 2020 Posted October 21, 2020 Just taking a wild assed guess here but.... promotional stunt? Quote
bonio Posted October 21, 2020 Posted October 21, 2020 Probably not. They were riding blades years back, and they'd reach max warp on them too. Round here though the police have been cutting back on their motorcycle department. My guess is they're considered to be a bit unwoke. Quote
bud Posted October 21, 2020 Posted October 21, 2020 Round here they had a couple of Busa and BMW RR's in the past. So could be legit. Quote
NeilM Posted October 21, 2020 Posted October 21, 2020 They've had it a good few year now. They show it at motogp etc.But yes. They do have some very quick bikes. Especially the unmarked ones.We had a busa as well. Quote

Never knew that, although I was passed by a Police Bike on the M6 a couple of years ago, not sure what sort of bike it was, it looked like a blade but it had panniers on which confused me, never seen a blade with panniers on. Whatever it was it was a sports bike. Quote
NeilM Posted October 21, 2020 Posted October 21, 2020 With the unmarked ones. Be very wary of anyone riding fast but smooth wearing a white helmet.....Always check the helmet.. Quote
Old-codger Posted October 21, 2020 Posted October 21, 2020 They have unmarked Yamaha R1s as well and you would be hard pushed to see any lights on them even if standing right next to it. Quote
Bender Posted October 21, 2020 Posted October 21, 2020 come to Northumberland, they scrapped the bike dep a good few years ago as officers were at greater risk of getting wet or breaking a fingernail. Quote
exportmanuk Posted October 21, 2020 Posted October 21, 2020 HiGMP have one thats used on the Bikesafe events. Usually its ridden by the teams Sargent. Not sure as he will let anyone else near Quote
fastbob Posted October 21, 2020 Posted October 21, 2020 I doubt if a Panigale would be up to the rigours of Police work with those stupidly fragile wheels . Quote
Throttled Posted October 22, 2020 Posted October 22, 2020 It is not a police bike, it is part of Bike Safe, a police recognised motorbike safety organisation;https://bikesafe.co.uk/"UK’s #1 POLICE-LED MOTORCYCLE SAFETY INITIATIVEBRIDGING THE GAP TO A SKILLFUL RIDEBikeSafe is a national police run motorcycle initiative, aimed at working with motorcycle riders in a relaxed environment to raise awareness of the importance and value of progressing on to accredited post-test training. BikeSafe workshops involve an observed ride with a police graded motorcyclist or approved BikeSafe observer. With some local variation, BikeSafe workshops aim to cover: rider attitude, systematic methods, collision causation, cornering, positioning, overtaking, observation, braking, hazard perception and use of gears."
