S-Westerly Posted July 6, 2024 Author Posted July 6, 2024 What is this good morning malarkey? It's not good at all! It's freezing cold and pissing down! Hate this bloody weather. 1 Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 We have our village music festival today. We spent yesterday building a new stage on the green, installing all the power supplies, getting WiFi, laying out the car park, setting up tents, BBQ, bar, etc etc. This morning it's chucking it down. It's going to be a genuine mudbath of an event. We have some cracking local band lined up so it will be a great day whatever the weather. 3 1 Quote
S-Westerly Posted July 7, 2024 Author Posted July 7, 2024 No it's not good. It's still crap - cold and wet. 1 Quote

Simon Davey Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 (edited) We've just had our open day. It's when we have an open invitation to the equine world to come along whilst we parade the foals we have bred this year around our riding arena, in the hope that they will catch the eye of prospective buyers. Feck me, we new it was going to rain, and it bloody well did, but not all the time. We had an amazing turnout, twice as many people as last year, despite the forecast. We lined up a few gazebos' with straw bales as seats, and the veterinary practice that we use sponsored the food by organising a pizza van. There was a talk by one of the vets, and a friend of ours from another stud, stood in the corner under a shelter and gave a talk on each mare and foal as they were paraded around. What a day!!! I usually dread it, but everyone was in high spirits saying what a great event it was, almost 70 pizzas cooked, and lots of interest in the foals. Now though, now I need to clear up, I need to unwire all the PA system speakers, and take down the gazebos' and get the few dry bales of straw back into the barn etc..... Going to sleep well tonight. S-Westerly Posted July 7, 2024 Author Posted July 7, 2024 This weekend was the Cotswolds Show in Cirencester and I feel sorry for all the poor sods who did all the work prepping for it. This weekend has been a total washout with really heavy rain today and persistent rain yesterday. Finally stopped this evening about 1900. Due to resume pissing down around noon tomorrow. 3 Quote

We were very lucky with our village music festival this weekend. It rained all Saturday morning, then dried up about 2.00ish. By 3.00 the sun was out. We began at 4.00 and had mostly sun until it sent dark. We very nearly ran out of beer but fortunately our stalwart bar staff had a spare supply stashed in someone's garage. 3 2 Quote
Fender1515 Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 Yesterday, I had planned a day to finish off making a woodworking bench, the work needed to be completed outside, so it rained and rained and rained, borrocks,, stopped the wet at 5:30pm so I did get a couple of hours work time, spent the most of the day doing business/work, so I had a free day today, and, the weather is looking good for the whole day today. I am on it! Quote
Ian Frog Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 Hi @Fender1515 are you planning to put castors on the bench? I find they are a godsend and get used way more than I thought they would as it`s surprising how often a change of angle makes some tasks easier. Photos when complete please. Cheers Ian 2 Quote
