Fozzie Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 I feel like I can hear a sigh between your last two messages as you go from suggesting she throw it in the woods herself, to resigning to the idea you’re going to have to do it 1 2 Quote

S-Westerly Posted August 12, 2024 Author Posted August 12, 2024 Good morning from a warm and damp Malaysia. We are in the throes of heavy duty tank cleaning as the powers that be have decreed that we are no longer to carry thick black shit but instead diesel as cargo. Now that the Russians can't sell diesel in Europe they are shipping a lot of crude to India where it is refined then huge amounts of diesel get shipped to Europe. With the Red Sea being a no go area it's getting sent the long way round so the economy of scale thing comes into play. As usual money talks and bullshit walks. 8 1 2 Quote
Simon Davey Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Good morning all I've got up late after going to bed at 04:00. We found one of our horses stuck in a shallow river (steep banks) at 18:30 last night Took lots, and I mean lots of people from Suffolk, and then Essex fire and rescue to get him out. After 3 hours he was lying on the grass looking like he was going to die from hypothermia and dehydration. 90 minutes after that we managed to get him up, but he needed to go to the equine hospital. It was a loooooong night. 7 Quote

A will anyone driving their diesel car/truck/campervan/tractor give a moment's thought about how their fuel came from and who was involved in getting to them? I always curse people that need animals to be rescued from ditches and rivers. "Why don't they keep their fences in order"..... Our horse must have been spooked by something, he went straight through electric rope and posts, taking it all down. Then, diwn into the muddy river travelling at least 80 metres before getting stuck. I shan't curse in the future 5 Quote

Oil has forever been transported from around the world to get here in Europe, it's a global market with many people working in it. Nobody really cares about anything that doesn't directly affect them. Edited August 13, 2024 by Nick the wanderer 1 Quote
RideWithStyles Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 (edited) That’s the curse of a horse . having the area it’s gonna be in not capable of containing a large and powerful beast that thinks its still a small rodent (or what ever it was hundreds of thousands or more of years ago) WHEN their still scared of pretty much everything's or anything going, not just when it’s just grazing… Ridden and looked after horses, broken bones because of them too. Funnily enough the Americans ship oil from Alaska to China despite them being very picky about sending Alaskan crude anywhere other than the US. The rest of the world it really doesn't make a lot of sense. I've taken fuel oil from the US to Rotterdam then back loaded a similar fuel oil to take to Singapore. The large scale 140,000 tonne parcels of ULSD from Asia to Europe is a relatively new thing. Pain in the arse for us as it takes about 2-3 weeks to clean the ship so it's fit to load white oils. 5 1 Quote
