  1. Started work on the 500. I need to get some new crankcase bearing shells because the old ones are scored and I have a used complete conrod and pistons to fit in place of the original set. They are over a tenner a piece!!!
  2. The worse he can do is issue a non payment against you, but as posting is not as described you are in the right and eBay will back you
  3. The forks are curved at the area of most damage, so should straighten without a problem. I have had a set done that were slightly worse than yours and they were fine. They use a hydraulic press to straighten them initially, then they use rollers to finish them.
  4. I believe those are able to be straightened, and will try and post a link to a company that will help https://firefoxracing.co.uk

  6. If it doesn't match I'd steer clear and cancel through eBays' not as advertised policy
  7. What bike would a pirate have? An RR of course
  8. My 600 is very vibey. I'm trying a different set of bar ends to see if they make a difference, but if not, has anyone ever heard of, or seen something to isolate the bars altogether, like rubber blocks, etc? The engine is a stressed member, so can't really do anything with that
  9. I saw something on the web yesterday, a boxer engine model built from solenoids
  10. It's bound to be of value to someone, but I have just looked on the DVLA database to see what it is via the reg no, but nothing is showing up
  11. I use a Tomtom smart 50.it gives you a choice of route selection, way points, you can choose between car, bike, pushbike and walking. I added a small speaker jack, allowing the use of ear buds or a external speaker so you can here the commands, (normal speaker outlet is on rear of unit). I also have a twin USB outlet on bike with two different output voltages so both phone or satnav can be charged while in use. Satnav sits in a dedicated waterproof case from Givi, and fits to a Givi holder, so I can remove it easily when parked up
  12. Nice bike, @gymwitch, proper rear end as well, not like modern stuff with a big gap between seat and tyre
  13. Why do bikes have so much empty space at the rear?
  14. Can't you use some kind of upgraded spring, like you can with clutches?
  15. As @Mississippi Bullfrog says, hydraulic lock is powerful enough to do that to a plug. It can actually strip the threads out the head as well. Strip the top end down, get the threads helicoiled on all the bolts, not just the buggered one, and fit a new head gasket
  16. I didn’t know that. Anyway I don't mind spiders, it's just they were everywhere, including all over the bike frame, so I thought I'd just burn away the webs rather than dig out a brush
  17. Hi Fas, CBT, followed by DAS on a 600cc or higher is quickest.
  18. Me!! I rent a garage where my other 3 bikes are, and went there yesterday to sort out everything to start rebuilding the 500. Where the boxes are stored it is covered in spiders webs and some big buggers, so I thought, "I know, I'll burn it all away, assassins creed style" So, out comes the blow torch, and for the hard to reach bits, a can of brake cleaner, Yeh, a homemade flamethrower . A few very satisfying moments later, cue one spider and web free area, apart from one teeny problem. You all know what's coming, don't you? Yes, you guessed it, I managed to set fire to the boxes, along with a big nylon blanket covering them, and a set of nylon overalls. Cue frantic grabbing of burning stuff to get it out of the garage, leaving a trail of burning debris in its wake. Managed to put it all out with a combination of dad dancing and wee,(don't ask) . The ultimate result, apart from loads of black cobwebs, is nylon melted to a lot of the engine casings I lovingly spent hours sanding down and repainting, and two very melted side panels! Still, could have been worse - the garage is still standing
  19. I use this stuff. Just cut to length. Velcro cable tidy
  20. Is peanuts on this forum?
  21. Same here, but with a BSA Airsporter . 22 fitted with telescopic sight and rather expensive prometheus hunting pellets
  22. I might be a philistine, but I would be happy with Xmas day and boxing day, plus new years eve and new years day off, and have more time off in summer/autumn. I no longer "celebrate" Xmas, to me it's just another excuse to get you to spend money. I even struggled last weekend to get a small joint of pork for Sunday dinner, most places had filled the shelves with large family sized cuts ready for Xmas, it's not even mid November yet! Before I get called scrooge,I know this time is special if you have young children, and I did push the boat out when the two boys were young, but it's now too commercialised. I'm not even listening to the radio, another playing of simply having a wonderful Christmas time and it would be out the window. This time of year its usually wet, cold and miserable and if it snows everything now comes to a standstill, so I would rather work and save the days off for better use in summer
  23. It appears the armour in the Akito is this visco-something that moulds itself to the contour of the shoulder, so narrow end is meant to cover the scapula
  24. "can I get away with leaving this and get out on the bike"?
