  1. @rennieyou was not at work at the time of the incident, so you probably won't be asked to give a statement, etc, but it still is not an easy time for you. In 1979 I was a machine setter on lathes called emimec auto sprints. They were a pegboard controlled single spindle, multi turret lathe. A young lad was given to me to operate a sprint on a single operation setting, just turning down the end of a windscreen wiper shaft as it was the wrong profile. I heard a loud scream, went to see what had happened, and he had managed to cut of part of a finger. Turns out he stuck his hand in the m/c after starting it to remove a bit of swarf. H and S got involved, and I was interviewed at length by them, along with my boss and the shop floor manager. The outcome was all the sprints had to be fitted with a second start button, and I think the lad got compensation, as he never came back to work

  6. There is none as so blind as those that don't look. If people or vehicles can pull out in front of ambulances, sirens and lights going you have no chance
  7. You get all sorts on here
  8. Just had a nice reply from the makers of hammerite. They can't recommend a lacquer, because they've never tried one on their products, but hammerite can be overpainted so they see no reason to not lacquer over it if required, but just do the usual test a inconspicuous area first. As it happens I have lacquered the fork stantions as they are in the firing line of all the road crap, and it's not caused any issues
  9. Is there a recovery service just for bikes?
  10. I waited for 51/2 hours for them in November 2020 with a puncture. A complete stranger, that had seen me sat at the side of the road on their way out, and was still there when they returned, came back to me, (this is about midnight) with a hot water bottle and a flask. She let me into her car to get warm, then called the RAC and gave them a right bollocking

  16. Still fettling the bike. New swing arm and shock fitted, swing arm has had several coats of hammerite smooth, after a good clean up and treated with kurust, so should last a while. Front forks out and stripped, ready for the new seals. Stantions rubbed back to bare ally, etched primed and painted with simonize black gloss, then clear coat laquerered. Lots of other bits done to tidy up the frame, wheels cleaned, new brake pads fitted and calipers cleaned. New instrument panel fitted, so now trip meter and clock work, though mileage is now zero. Tomorrow will mostly be putting the forks back together
  17. My ex had secret debts, even though I was bringing home good money. I was home unexpectedly when the guy turned up to collect an instalment from her for a loan she'd taken out. I heard her tell him she could only pay some of it, and I have, and still have, no idea what she was doing with the money coming in to need a loan in the first place
  18. What make of bike is a holibob?
  19. My ex played away while I was on shift work, with the boyfriend of her best friend. I let it go to court, where I said I would pay maintenance for both boys until they left school, but I would not support the ex financially, as she was the reason we were here in the first place, and the judge actually agreed to rhat. He house was rented with joint tenancy, so I signed it over to her, and that was that. The ex did try and get more money out of me after I changed my job, and when that didn't work she got the DSA? involved. They came to my workplace to see me, As I spent more time there than at home, and the ex had told them I was not making regular maintenance payments. After showing them that money went straight out of my bank into the court appointed account for both boys every week, and on time, they decided no further action was needed. I bet the ex got a rollicking for wasting their time
