  1. Of all things I found my old diesel Astra estate was great in the snow. My wife once used it to get back home from work from Halifax on unploughed/ungritted roads after a snowstorm. She kept it in low gear, never went over 15mph and just get plodding on
  2. Annoyingly I can't find the grout I used when doing my kitchen. Must of changed its name or something, was nice and easy to work with. I was looking at Mapei stuff so might see what else is about look at reviews etc @Mississippi Bullfrog @husoi I've used PTFE tape for years but have only just recently learned you should always wrap it clockwise so it doesn't unravel while screwing on. I'm guessing I got it right most times by luck
  3. I'm taking some time off work in a couple of weeks to remodel our bathroom and seperate toilet so once again my dining room has become a storage area Not doing anything too fancy, just a straight rip out and replace of everything and new tiles/floor. The toilet and bathroom are seperate but adjoining, Wife really wanted me to knock wall down and combine the two but it would be a ballache and with us only having the one toilet I prefer to keep separate so I don't get banging on the door to hurry up when I'm having a shower Thought I'd start a thread on here to see if anyone has any hard earned lessons they can pass on or things they wish they had done but didn't when doing their own.
  4. Just had a bit of excitement on way home from work. Looked in rear view and saw a police car with lights on chasing a quad bike. I sped up to a section of road that had cars parked on either side and stopped at an angle so he couldn't get past. Unfortunately he went down a side street and came out further ahead heading towards town centre with Police still chasing. Police helicopter is buzzing overhead now. Hopefully they aren't looking for the prat in the white Aygo who messed up their pursuit
  5. I lived in Cornwall during my late teens. The combination of tractors, tourists and people parking their cars in the middle of a street to have a chat used to drive me mad
  6. My Cat is a spoiled little sh*t who only likes the breast
  7. Halfords advanced stuff is good and has a lifetime guarantee so you can go back and swap easily enough if one gets knacked. Prices are decent as well https://www.halfords.com/tools/hand-tools/tool-kits/halfords-advanced-screwdriver-and-bit-set-250548.html Edit: Beaten by @Bender

  9. I'm assuming half asleep and a look of defeat
  10. Thought I was going to get pulled by police on my way to work this morning at 5am. I drove past a police car and saw them turning around further down the road. As I was parking up at shop they pulled up alongside me. When I got out he looked at me and said "I'm guessing by the look on your face you are on your way to work?!!" I smiled and raised my shop keys, he laughed and drove off
  11. A few years ago when my youngest daughter was around 8 she was sat on the sofa with her mum arguing about something or other when her mum raised her voice and shouted at her not to speak like that to her. That woke tiggie the cat up who launched herself at my wife, wrapped herself around her arm and gave her a few quick nips before legging it She was just protecting her little friend!!
  12. You have all seen plenty of photos of my namesake so instead I'll post this video of a Cat protecting her family
  13. Love stuff like this. Makes me want to go out and get a barn find
  14. Today's job. Heard a grinding noise when braking last week. Parts are cheap so I decided to do discs at same time. Just waiting for frost to melt
  15. @onesea we have central heating so it's more about having a real fire!! We have an old gas fire that's never used and is an ugly looking thing that desperately needs to go
  16. We are having a log burner fitted this year (at least that's the plan) Can't wait!!
  17. Posted not too long ago but its applicable You know you are having a bad day when this is your treadmill.........
  18. A few years ago someone stole an old decommissioned ambulance from close to where I live. He took the police on a 37 mile chase before crashing and abandoning it on a train crossing It even made it onto an episode of Police Interceptors!!
  19. Mine is pretty much filled with my mechanics & tysytube restoration videos
  20. Thats a decent idea I wont partake as I have access to a free electronic version (friend that subscribes to a few emails me them if I ask nicely) though it admittedly isn't the same as reading on paper. I did something on here years ago with my dvd copy of "closer to the edge" which I had a spare of. I wonder where that ended up?
  21. @Mississippi Bullfrog We employ 15/16 year olds as counter staff. Give it a few more years and I'll be working with staff who weren't even born when I got married
  22. That's only 5 miles away from me, might go have a gander
