Adam Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 That's some good advice GOG, it all happened so quick I didn't even consider it. I had only just moved over when the lorry pulled out so didn't have much time to react, and to be honest I never thought he would pull out. I'll definitely think worst case scenario in the future and thanks for the advice. Quote

I did many years of defensive driving courses with one of my previous employers and I learnt a hell of a lot from them.....even though I'd been on the road for nearly 15 years when I joined the company......well worth doing if you do a lot of driving..... CrookzV4 Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 ta-daYou just get used to anticipating these things, and thank god for the strong brakes on this bike.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHJf8GxCTD0 Quote
Hoggs Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 ooooh! A lesser spotted indicating minicab! A rare and elusive creature! But yeah I agree after a while the "idiot-o-meter" gets well tuned and you know who's gonna try and kill you before they do Quote
Joeman Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Todays nomination goes to Halfords Autocentre..I booked my car in for an MOT today. Asked the Mrs to take it there for me whilst I'm at work. She got there and was told it's not booked in until MONDAY!! But I have an email that clearly states confirmed booking for today...Idiots... Quote
Stu Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Didn't you learn from the last time you had an mot with them Quote
Joeman Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Didn't you learn from the last time you had an mot with them Nope - still the same morons as last time it seems...Email sent to head office, let's see what freebies I can blag for my inconvenience.. And ear bashing i took for "telling her to take it on the wrong day" Quote
Epic Earl Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 I took a leased works car to an halfords auto center once, the guy who was standing in as manager couldn't seem to care less that he was there or how he spoke to customers.I asked for paper work (that I usually expect from a garage when I have taken cars in for a service) to which he shruggs and goes you dont get none, it goes to the lease company. As I'm responsible for the vehicle I wanted paperwork. Sorry you cant have any.Snotty email to the head office, got me an apologetic phone call from an area manager and a free MOT. Not that Id be going in there again anyway Quote

And ear bashing i took for "telling her to take it on the wrong day" Got 50quid back... Result!Shame the service, MOT, and full set of discs and pads cost best part of 800quid Quote
Joeman Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 50 quid is 50 quid You can fill the tank up Yep, they bought my silence for 50quid! Haha Quote
XmisterIS Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I would never take a vehicle of any description into Halfords for any kind of work to be done on it - they're overpriced and underskilled! My car goes to a family-run garage just round the corner from my house and my bike goes to a Kwaker specialist just round the other corner from my house. To right ... last place I would take a car is to Halfords auto center, what ever they charge, you could probably get done for half the price. Quote

To right ... last place I would take a car is to Halfords auto center, what ever they charge, you could probably get done for half the price. unfortunately with lease cars you get no choice. I have had to wait outside Halfords for someone to come and fit windscreen wipers as the lease company wouldnt let me fit them myself (I'm no mechanic but they arent exactly complicated to swap over). Likewise I have had to take a car to the dealership for an MOT and service then gone on to A.N.Other tyre fitter the next day as they wouldnt authorise the dealership to do the tyres while they did the other work. Its very frustrating (but not so annoying I'd give up my company car!) Quote

If I had an alternative within walking distance I would use it, but unfortunately halfords is my only practical option that lets me drop the car off at 8am and still get my 8:27 train to work. Lost work costs significantly more than halfords markup! But cars are so simple to work on these days, it's hard to get stuff wrong on a routine service. And if they do get it wrong I'll quickly give them a very hard time about it!! Quote
MrBrightside Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 I have to nominate my GF as the NOTD. I put my work shirts in the wash this morning and she thought it'd be a good idea to whack her jeans in. Consequently I now have pink work shirts. Not gonna be a good lock come Saturday! Quote
Gin Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Hahaha I'm sure you can pull it off, just rock up to the station with confidence and bravado! What colour were the jeans?! Quote
NeilM Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Please please pull me over in a pink shirt Although personally I can do pink.I like a pink shirt occasionally. They used to say to wear pink to interviews as it softens your appearance. Quote
MrBrightside Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Gin they were kinda pinky beige? But my shirts are proper pink. Trying to rescue them now Quote

MrBrightside Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Haha well after 2 extra washes with vanish and those colour catchers, they are white again! Thank f*ck. I did have a panick on at one stage, hard enough getting any extra uniform these days. The balance has been restored... Quote
