Marino Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 what is included in this service Not sure but probably just oil and filters Plus brake and clutch fluids. As I remember valve clearance is on 9000 miles.Valve clearance is at 18000 miles and charges for that service are the wrong side of £500. As you say you pay for the stamp. Once it's out of warranty there's a guy in Cheltenham who specialises in Italian bikes and charges considerably less than dealers. There's a reason I don't get my tyres via the dealer etc. They are not cheap. Love the bike though. So service intervals are increased much, almost double from Jap bikes, so price at the end is not so much higher. Quote
skyrider Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 i suppose thats the joy of owning the little trail bike i have now i have always serviced it myself Quote
geofferz Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 Just ordered Grip Puppies!GP-2_800x.jpgBeen meaning to order them for the last year but kept forgetting! I like mine XTreme. Measure and cut with scissors off the bike and put liquid soap on the inside to slip over Quote
raesewell Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 Take a look at these, cheaper than Grip Puppies. I have used genuine Grip puppies which are fine, these are great and work just as well.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorcycle-Foam-Grip-Covers-Cut-to-Size-Superb-Quality-FREE-POSTAGE/221763956126?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Quote

Mawsley Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 Went out to see if my kit still holds back the rain. Unfortunately it does, so that rules out the fun of shopping online this afternoon. I also discovered that humpback bridges and green lanes aren’t kind to recovering haemorrhoids. Quote
S-Westerly Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 Had the new Metzler tyres fitted and so far they seem an improvement. I can't really do a fair comparison with the Pirelli Scorpions as they had over 8500 miles on them. What I did notice is that whereas the Pirellis would twitch on a damp white line even when new the Metzlers don't. They certainly gave the impression of being sticky from the moment I rode out of Chris Mullin's yard and I've done about 70 miles on them now. Quote
gymwitch Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 Got real close to setting it on fire and pushing down the road. Quote
sillyoldman Posted July 4, 2020 Posted July 4, 2020 Nice little run around the local back roads before the rain. Ended up doing a little sortie over the border but it was worth it. Quote
Gerontious Posted July 4, 2020 Posted July 4, 2020 added a top box. I'm not a fan of huge top boxes, helmet or twin helmet size. This one is 30L which is plenty big for me. It will also act as a 'brake' for my dry bag which will be across the pillion plate with all my camping equipment inside. Quote
SometimesSansEngine Posted July 4, 2020 Posted July 4, 2020 Removed the rear brake pads from the wife's bike. They were an advisory as 'close to minimum limit' at the last MOT but always visually looked OK. Took them off, no my eyes don't deceive me. 4mm of pad left all around on both. Put them back on. dynax Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 Put Xena on charge, will be going to halford's later for a spoke wrench and some more brake and carb cleaner Quote

husoi Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 In an indirect way this was for the bike Almost all materials are recycled.Base and stand come from an old bed frameConnection wires, cable and plug were around the garage.Front panel from 9mm plywood bitRear from some chipwoodred bits were the mattress support plywood bits.Isn't showing the fixing for the lights box to the metal stand, but it was taken from the leftover bits resulting from cutting the roof box for the trailer Only had to buy the bulbs at £1 each and some more soldering wire because I was running out. Not bad for a really bright lighting. Now I can see what I'm doing Quote

I get that as well......but I find it depends on the bike how quick it kicks in.IL4's are the worst, Twins are in the middle, and Thumpers the least. Which is odd considering that they vibrate more.Do they help?......probably, but they're not a cure. But they are more comfortable and you don't have to bend your hand so much to grip the bar. Quote
