Suez in March has pleasant weather. But Singapore - tooo sticky.

Suez at this time isn't bad unless you cop for a sand storm. Singapore is always sticky. They have a wet season and a wetter season. Not as much fun as it used to be and bloody expensive. Not that we can go ashore anyway. Looking at it through binoculars is as close as well get!

After we do leave here on Tuesday, hopefully, we are off to Algeciras for fuelling then through the Suez canal for Singapore so it'll soon be too bloody hot.

I have a picture on the wall of my late Dad he was in the merchant from 1949 when he was 15. The pic is of him on the suez the one on the left.

So much for a quiet Sunday.  Just kicked off the next operation at 2330. Probably go through to 0600. So goodnight and good morning in one. On the bright side I can knock off the water rationing so showers are back on. Whoop, whoop.

Good morning :thumb:

Frosty start to the day shame I am working as it looks like it's going to be another cracking one.

I did sleep well last night I was in bed just after eight.

Skegness looks like a decent place to go fishing too, you can't fish off the pier though, they have put up string lights between the lamp posts TWATS! Otherwise the beach looks good enough :thumb:

And going direct it's only 77 miles so just a few miles more than Brid, might have a crack this coming weekend :thumb:

Alum Rock? That would be for the wild fields of Washwood Heath and Bordesley Green. 😂  (I lived in Langton Rd, Alum Rock, and went to Bordesley Green Technical School).

Years ago when I worked in a petrol station we wondered why we had lost the trade of all the local taxi firms. They just stopped coming. Then one day we found out that the garage the next town over had been closed down under investigation due to selling red diesel.

All the Taxi guys suddenly reappeared from then on

The school of hard knocks I bet. A bit like Dudley College of Tech ology rough around the edges in its day I hated school but loved college did my nvqs and btec look back on it and wouldn't have changed my route to further education

Alum Rock had a few residents of doubtful character (if you can get your hands on a book called Dojo Knights there are a few tales of people I knew). Bordesley Green Tech was a grammar school for those more inclined to head to work as toolmakers / draughtsmen rather than academia - that was Saltley Grammar. Many of the teachers were of the opinion “spare the rod , spoil the child”… Or their particular version of it (sandpapering a pupil’s foot !!!).

I went to Wednesbury tech and Walsall tech for my City and Guilds. I’m not convinced I learnt much there though some must have stuck. Young’s modulus  of elasticity? 😂

Somewhere in China there is a factory, probably staffed by enslaved workers,  that makes a product claiming to be toilet paper from what is obviously recycled sand paper. Do not ask me how I know this.

Very good morning Everybody :thumb:

Just emailed my resignation after accepting an offer for a position to another company 🙂

Means longer journeys on the days I'll be working in the office. On the plus side, a more enjoyable ride to work on fridays 😉

Car park have EV chargers so that's a plus and the extra pence is the cherry on top. :thumb:

Finally left sunny Scapa Flow and for once the sun is shining there is no wind and we sailed during office hours instead of the middle of the night. Winner!

When I left work last Friday morning we had all 4 furnaces working,

I had Sunday night off :thumb:,

When I got to work last night only 3 worked

When I got here tonight only 2 work! and 1 of them is dodgy! :scratch:

No wonder they don't like me having holidays! :classic_biggrin:
