So, I'm trying to do the couch to 5k. I started Friday with 3K and another 3K this evening. Using the NHS app. Start with a 5 min brisk walk then 60 second jog, then 90 second walk, do this eight times and a 5 min brisk walk home. God help me Good luck, I've taken other measures on top of dry Jan, I'm pretty active which is shit because I'm trying to get out of the almost clinically obese area of the chart. The bmi thing really dosent fit with me but hey ho, I've started so I will finish 3 Quote

I've been clinically obese most of my life, even when playing rugby. 2 1 Quote
Tiggie Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 I've been trying pretty hard to get into better shape since after Christmas. I've lost 5.5lbs so far which is a nice start. Not sure really how much I need to lose, probably a couple of stone. It's more about things like not having my legs ache when running up the stairs at work than appearance for me. Believe it or not being a fish fryer in a busy shop is actually a fairly strenuous job 3 Quote

With all my recent issues I was told had I not kept fit I'd most likely have been a dead man by now and I'm 46! Keep an eye on ur blood pressure and cholesterol levels simple things Dr's can sort these days. I think us blokes especially just plod on and don't always see the warning signs 4 Quote

I have set a goal of losing 2 stone in the next 4 months. Quote

The advice I followed which helped me was, exercise for the many benefits it brings but the weight loss will happen through dietary change. I weigh in daily and look for a general downward trend (it's amazing how much your weight can naturally fluctuate). You need to be in a calorie deficit, I used a calorie tracker, laborious at first but definitely helps. Quote

I know a lot moan about stating but thy keep me alive I have familial hypercholesterolemia genetic issue I see a specialist now and she keeps it all in range even on the perfect diet mine would be too high. I maybe going onto injectable treatments in the summer instead of stating. It's something we all need to get checked when we get older beats a stroke heart attack or worse ! 1 Quote
Tiggie Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 According to my fitbit I've gone from a resting heart rate of 67 at Christmas to 57 now. I assume that means I'm doing something right. Had a fitbit for years and figured it's time to use it for something other than sneakily checking text messages at work 3 Quote
Guest Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 I've decided the UK will move to 13 months of 28 days and everyone will get an extra months pay. On Friday afternoon at 4pm the clocks will go forward an hour to 5pm and back again on Saturday night, so your Friday at work is an hour shorter and you get an extra hour in bed every weekend. Quote

Steve_M Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 Good(ish) evening. This evening we are mostly assembling the photographs from our last tour to be printed into an album (yes, I know, very 1960’s ). My role is to provide images, in .jpg format, of the routes on a day by day. What a pain in the derrière. eg. Quote
