So my current policy runs out tonight (midnight) and I've been busy with work and not got anything sorted yet.

Currently with LV, but as I now have a years no claims bonus I thought it wise to shop around.

So who do you boys and girls recommend I try? I hate comparision sites as the quote is never quite right.

Thanks

Fish

It's hard to say as insurers seem to have preferred riders. So what works well for one person doesn't for the next.

I'm with Bikesure and found their multi bike policy very good. But I've never had to contact them about anything so I've no idea how good they are otherwise.

I was with bikesure for 3 years, it was only one affordable even do it was sky high. This year I got incredible offer from lexhaminsurance, 3 times cheaper than next closest one.

As already said it's hard to say one brokeray give one a good price and not another there's lots of factors. The comparison sites generally have worked out better for me

I’ve been with Bennett’s for the last 3yrs,  I find them pretty good,  I nearly changed to a different company last year as I got a better quote.  So I rang them and they not only matched it but gave me a better price.  Currently on a multi bike policy and do find the price competitive .  My insurance is due again soon so will see how they compare this year.

Had the usual run around with my car insurance this week.

Got my renewal from Carole Nash, went from just over £200 to £286 with no change of car, drivers or cover.

Did a meerkat search and could get the same cover with only a slight increase in voluntary excess with RAC for £146.

Rang CN and asked if they could do any better, just one minute later it could be dropped to £199, still not good enough.

Said I'm probably going to cancel and will get back to them.

Rang the RAC and they pulled the quote out, yep all good but then I remembered my start date was 6 days earlier than I'd put down so I told him, he put the new date in and said it would be another £15, wtf?

He said it was a change of risk??

I said I'd check again online, so went back to meerkat, put the new date in and the price with the RAC was exactly the same as the previous online quote. Rang them back and went ahead with the 2nd quote.

All a bit of a drag but basically halved what I could have paid CN if I'd just let it run.

It's a minefield every year we all have this same issue but like in your case it's worth the time to save a bit of cash.

I don’t see why it’s complicated. I just go onto one of the comparison sites.  (Confused.com) enter my details and choose the cheapest that has the package I require with the lowest excess. Last year that was devitt this year it was onecall. Next year it will be someone else, I’m sure. The new business discount counts for a lot, there is zero benefit to brand loyalty 99% of the time. I just treat it as a necessary expense like road tax.
