Roxnet Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 Hi all, I'll visit Glasgow next July, someone can suggest me, where I can put my motorbike for one night? I look for a covered safe garage, do you know if there are in Glasgow? Thanks in advance. Quote
JackieOWheels Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 Hello, where in Glasgow would you be first? If it's the town centre, I find it's been pretty safe leaving a bike overnight in the solo motorcycling bays as I've personally done it a few times myself, I would suggest chaining the bike up though. S-Westerly Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 Last time I was in Glasgow company had me in Crowne Plaza Hotel near the SEC. I used their carpark and chained bike to lamppost. Had no issues at all. Quote
skyrider Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 it's probably like they say GLASGOWS MILES BETTER Quote
Roxnet Posted February 13, 2022 Author Posted February 13, 2022 I will go in the centre city. I will have some luggage attached to the motorbike, for this reason I prefer to park in a garage. Do you know if in the multi level car park(like concert square car park) is possible to park the motorbike? This kind of parking should be safe. Right? Quote
husoi Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 I'm across to east in Fife. Happy to shelter your luggage if you want. Glasgow NCP car parks are pretty safe. I believe SECC car park have motorbike bays. 2 Quote
fredc Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 (edited) The carpark in cambridge street has free motorbike bays and cctv although I haven't been there for a very long time edit their website is down just now Edited February 14, 2022 by fredc Quote
MikeHorton Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 Is it worth looking on Google Street View where you are stopping and seeing if there are any companies with secure parking that you might be able to speculatively contact and see if you can arrange a fee for using their space? Quote
Roxnet Posted February 14, 2022 Author Posted February 14, 2022 Thanks to all of you. Your advices are very useful.. Probably I worry too much, but when I travel with motrbike, I am not confortable thinking the motorbike unsafe. Expecially when I don't know the city. It's my first time in Glasgow and I don't know if there is crime. Anyway reading your post seems it's quite safe. Quote
MikeHorton Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 Everywhere has crime I'm afraid but I found Glasgow a friendly place some great places to eat and drink too. If you like whisky try the Pot Still in the city centre Quote
Roxnet Posted February 14, 2022 Author Posted February 14, 2022 I like wisky, but I prefer the beer. What do you suggest to go for a good beer and food? Quote

Mississippi Bullfrog Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 Glasgow is great. Lots of places to eat and the people are brilliant. 1 Quote

Roxnet Posted February 16, 2022 Author Posted February 16, 2022 I have not finished to arrange the travel, but I am planning to go on th e skye, on the highland driving the NC500 until Jhon o'Groats. Then Lochness, Cairngrom, Aberdeen, Edimburg end than New Castle to take the ship for Amsterdam and return in Italy 1 Quote
Bender Posted February 16, 2022 Posted February 16, 2022 Wouldn't be overly concerned about nc 500 it's over rated and over used, up through glencoe upto sky, down to fort augustus, go to aviemore via back road through Aberarder or any road you fancy Quote
Roxnet Posted February 16, 2022 Author Posted February 16, 2022 Humm... Maybe tomorrow I'll publish here the route I'd drive. I accept your advices . 2 Quote
bonio Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 I was up in the Cairngormd last year. Amazing roads. Scenery from paradise. No traffic. All of it miles from the nc500. 1 Quote
husoi Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 Keep in mind that NC500 has become very busy victim of own success. Still good for bikers but expect to find quite a few caravans along the way. Years ago I did the west coast from Lochgillpead to Thurso and then back to Fife. Was very lucky with the weather and very few midges. About midges, those bast*rds... If you're coming after mid-May you really want to get some smidge spray. Quote
Roxnet Posted February 17, 2022 Author Posted February 17, 2022 (edited) This is the trip I have in my mind. Starting from New Castle. Edited February 17, 2022 by Roxnet Quote

bonio Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 ....except for the stretch from Edinburgh to Perth, which is a bit rubbish. But @husoi might know better roads thereabouts; it's his patch. Quote
Bender Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 I dislike the Inverness to John o nothing to see much better cutting over to Ullapool and drop down to sky 1 Quote
