They just can't get their heads around why I don't want a screaming baby just yet.

They don't all scream.

Not had this problem, as I was never as well planned as you.

Marriage and children should only be the concern of you and your girlfriend.

Discuss your concerns with her, and between the two of you, think of an answer to give people, then you can speak loud and clear, and those "regulars" will get the message.

If you both decide you'll have kids when you're good and ready, then you can both make that message heard.

Not really and we had kids young which meant we were relatively young grandparents. I'd never pressurise anyone to have kids though as it's a personal choice and not everyone wants to be a parent. It's bloody hard work for a start - why do you think I buggered off to sea?

I could do with a change of career!

Being planned is a fairly recent thing, and mostly a credit to my girlfriend who has known since she was 18 roughly when she wanted kids

I on the other hand just said I was a hard no to previous dates/partners as I was living in London with a plan to move back to Manchester when able, and knew there was a fair chance the partner wouldn't want to come, and that would be that. The only time I did agree, I asked for 5 years, but after 1 the partner reneged on the agreement.

My girlfriend gave me a year when we got together to decide if I wanted kids, as if not, she was off. I agreed, but due to covid and the housing prices rocketing in 2022 (even in a nearly paid off flat, the area around me borders inaccessible for even a small house), followed by the recent interest rate hikes, it's been a triple whammy of shit. And this group that gossiped knew all this as I've had at least one ramble about it in front of them.

But maybe they just ran out of things to go on about. Or were bored. My girlfriend thinks I shouldn't say anything, so to here I came!

Got today the draft home report for my property.

Usually people would say isn't worth the paper it's written on. Actually is not worth the pdf is written on.😡😡

Now I remember why surveyor is a profession below general labour. 😤

Bunch of useless tw@ts

Couldn't recognise quality even it would hit them on the face.

The idiot decided that a wooden floor rated A* by the manufacturer isn't quality and needs replacement 😡😡🖕🖕🖕

Failed to recognise that all lighting is led. Failed to notice the boiler is above spec and more efficient than the crap he sees on other places.

Didn't care about the 15yr warranty on the kitchen (13 because 2 are passed)

And because of the idiots in the Scottish government I had to spend 660 quid on a piece of useless crap 😡😡😡😡😡😡

Can't even wipe the arse with it 😤

I can refuse to approve the draft.

Thing is, won't get any better and will only be wasting time.

It's just a piece of paper that nobody cares about except for 1 sentence

The value for mortgage 🙂

They are so incompetent that the value is always overpriced.

Happy days to go with the value he put in and sell the house

I am going for my rant of the day a £12.00 cheese sandwich.IMG_20240623_141017_HDR.thumb.jpg.df3052cd979dfa6e4b934c37c4789fde.jpgit was a nice sandwich but really £12.00.

The pint was only £5.05 the cheapest yet in a pub.

Atleast the Anchourage is free, 3 weeks of northerlies stopped my hopes of Scotland.

Been there and done that. Deeply depressing trying to make progress when the weather gods aren't playing nice.

Sounds amazing.

Me and the missus are sailing on the River Bure on Thursday. Two of us in a single-handed lug-rigged halfdecker 🤣

My pressure washer packed up this evening.  That's the third one in five years. Is it possible to buy one that isn't made in China?

I got a nilfisk that was supposed to be really good and lasted 6 months.

Have a Karcher now.

Make sure you buy one with brushless motor. They last a lot longer

I had a karcher k2 for about 10 years with no issues. Decided it was time to upgrade and got the K4.  It lasted a year before a plastic elbow pipe inside split

Only cost around a tenner to fix and was easy enough to do but still......

Anywhere as long the motor is brushless

Looking online I see that if I buy a Karcher K5 direct from them they offer a 6 year warranty.  Given my track record I might take them up on that.

I even got an extension hose. 15m long. Don't need to take the washer out of the garage 🙂

That sounds like fun, boats don't need to be big to enjoy sailing. Just like bikes it's getting out and doing.

The broads are somewhere I mean to navigate. Then there are many stretches of water I can say that about.

Just like roads on the bike.

Too true. When I'm not messing about in my Streaker dinghy I sail a radio controlled yacht. Last year our club decided to try a one class series using the Dragonforce 65. As the name sugests it's just 65cm long - there are bigger boats but the deciding factors were the price - the full thing is on the water for under £300 which is cheap for rc sailing. And the fact that you can fit a fully rigged boat on the back seat of most cars.

We get a lot of people scoff at our 'toy' boats, until they have a go and realise how much focus is needed to sail them well. Once they've had a go they end up joining us.
