Failed my mod 2 today 1 major for apparently not doing a left lifesaver at a right turn off roundabout , 100% I did look over my left as I exited but examiner must have missed it ! I remember doing this as it was the last roundabout back to the test centre and even told myself don’t mess up now ensuring I did all checks ,  my disagreement fell on deaf ears which is so frustrating, feel robbed and lost a lot of faith in the examination process

Unfortunately it's in the past, don't dwell on it, next time should go fine.

I do too many lifesavers at roundabouts cos i'm never sure - but i think at right turn you have to look over your right.. so your Left life saver would not have been the right one.

All I can suggest when doing life savers is to do them a little bit more slowly and deliberately so as to give no option to say it wasn't done. I was given that advice by my instructor for my car license. He said not to look in the mirror just moving your eyes but to move your entire head so the examiner can see you do it.

Good luck in future

Adjust your mirrors so you have to turn your head slightly too see properly, for your test. Then your mirror checks easily observed.

Test are a pantomime you have to know the part to play as much as what to do.  Sadly like with a pantomime, your audience has to like what your doing as well...

The question to ask is "where is the danger coming from?". If there's a lane to your right, look right. If you're crossing a lane to your left, look left first.

My dyslexic arse brain - is never sure .. it took me ages to master in the car...I tend to look to the lane (if i'm crossing one - and glance to the other shoulder as I go) . I'm sure at one point i was told to check for cyclists - but now i know that's only if I sit there a while.

Unless it is a mini roundabout - not sure where i should be looking either

Failed my Mod2 this week, first attempt but feeling more annoyed with myself more than anything.

Took it at Chesterfield, all going reasonably well other than setting off from behind a parked car down hill in neutral! Daft lad!! So got a minor.  Also got a minor when approaching a railway bridge wide enough for one vehicle, signed priority for oncoming, so I stopped to let the oncoming car through but it also stopped and flashed.  Examiner told me I should have gone but I said I was following the sign instruction, so thought this was a bit harsh tbh.

The reason for failing was a roundabout with 7 exits, particularly busy as it feeds two carriageways and vehicles go round and enter it far too quickly, anyway I was instructed to take the 3rd exit which was at 12 o’clock, chose the left lane as indicated by the approaching signs but stupidly, and can’t remember doing it, indicated right after the first exit to then indicate left after the 2nd to take 3rd exit (whilst staying in the left lane).  No idea why I indicated right but I caused a car to hesitate in the lane next to me as they thought I was pulling across.  No cause of danger other than affecting other users unnecessarily really.  Stupid and like I said, annoyed with myself more than anything tbh especially since it was only 5 minutes away from the test centre return!

Anyway, live and LEARN by mistakes, already looking to book my re-take so fingers crossed.

Passed Mod 2 today at Burgess Hill. I had booked a 5 day course with an independent school as I had next to no prior experience since CBT a year ago. The last four days were split between road riding and prep for Mod 1, which I did last Friday. Not much to say about that except I was making an utter pig’s ear of the U turns and figure 8 until I relaxed, looked where I wanted to go and kept steady throttle, feathered the clutch and dragged the rear brake (exactly what my instructor kept telling me). And when it mattered it all came together.

My road riding was gradually getting better, smoother gear changes, less jerky coming out of junctions and better slow speed stuff in traffic, even filtering at walking pace in places. Today’s test was at lunchtime so the morning spent getting to the test centre almost as an independent ride, the instructor telling us what places to head for as we made our way down.

Once there, paperwork completed, read a licence plate, a couple of show me, tell me’s, and off we went.
The ride took about 40-45 minutes. It’s quite hilly round there so I must have done the hill start naturally, usual stop then move away, and angled starts were ok. Plenty of roundabouts, standards and minis, which were all ok, indicators on and off when necessary, then on to a NSL dual carriageway. I picked up one minor here for slowing down before leaving rather than using the slip road.

Then it was independent ride following signs back to Burgess Hill and the test centre where the examiner gave me the result.

Very happy it’s all done and dusted.

Well done you. Now enjoy the sheer pleasure that a motorbike gives you.

Congratulations,  it's a great feeling isn't it?

Now you've just got to take it easy... You've learnt to pass a test,  but now you've got to learn to ride.

Enjoy every moment of it, every ride feels great.

I went to do my MOD2 today. The examiner did not seem in a good mood and I did not blame him. It was a rainy day.

He got annoyed that it was my CBTs last valid day. He read the whole information on the back. Not sure what he was looking for.

I needed to spell the registration plate several times (he had difficulty typing it in even when I spelled using Alpha Bravo spelling)

He seemed to be in a rush I thought I might be in luck and will have a short rainy test. Well short it was.

We started from the parking and went approximately 60 yards to the exit of the test centre. I stopped about a yard behind the carriageway. I decided to pull to the line and wait for a vehicle to pass. The examiner probably thought I will pull away because he hit me from behind. Once he hit me from behind he dropped the bike. He was shouting extremely loudly not once but twice "YOU F*****G IDIOT". He was trying to lift the bike frantically but after he hit me he did roll a bit forward so my wheel was blocking his wheel and bike from standing up straight. Shouted again "MOVE. YOU FAILED. THIS IS F*****G DANGEROUS” And he kept repeating here and there "IDIOT". Finally the bike up he ordered to get back in. Obviously shouting. My ear was ringing for hours from his shouting. The earpiece is loud by default especially when someone is shouting in the microphone. Just for reference he shouted loud enough with the helmet on that my friend heard it from the parking lot and came to find out what is happening. He saw this guy looking around like he is looking if someone saw what happened.

He failed me on observation at junction. I think he failed to do his job properly and then went on abusing me verbally.

I am absolutely frustrated because I did prepare for this test and I believe I could have passed. Now I will need to do a new CBT and probably wait months to get a test booked in again. I will consider my options to address his abusive behaviour towards me in an official manner.

I consider myself lucky that from the hit I stalled the bike in 1st gear otherwise I could have end up in front of the vehicle passing on the road. So indeed it was dangerous but not because me as a beginner rider might lack of skills but because there is a chance at all that an examiner might push you into traffic instead of staying back and doing his job. Shocking.

What's your riding school said? Considering the immediate fail I'd of given the guy a gob full in return whilst he flapped around trying to stand his bike up. What a cock.

Sounds a pointless waste of time and money with an examiner like that unfortunately

I had to go without the riding school as they where not available and it was the last day of my CBT. Long story short seemed to me that they where streching the whole process to go over my CBT. Chaps like myself, almoast middle aged family man, are their best customers paying a lot of money on courses I guess so they use the opportunity.

I definitely would have not go out with that examiner after that behaviour. I am more of a peacefull problem solver so I chose not to raise my voice not to give him a chance to say I was abusive. If you check online there is a lot of procedures against abusive examinees and their instructors but no procedures for abusive examiners. Interesting. These tests would need to be recorded for sure.

Yes sounds like a terrible day, his flapping and ill organise manner rubbed off. unfortunately you suffered the consequences of his mind was else where, he is meant to react to your actions as he sets off after you have cleared the junction and not preemptively but luckily you wasn’t injured.

@FBilibok1 he ran into the back of you. His fault. Report him to the school for lack of attention.

@FBilibok1

Exactly this!!!

As JRH says, he is at fault, he has NO excuse whatsoever for his behaviour.

He is responsible for his own actions, and if he was paying so little attention that he rear ended you at such slow speed, he's not fit for his role.

I'd at least be going for a refund.

Lets see with what DVSA comes back with. In the meanwhile I have CBT and Mod2 booked in 6 Weeks from now. I guess my new bike has to wait a little longer to be ridden. :) Thank you guys for your input.

We started at "it's bollox", quickly into a hefty "oh bollox" and finished into a very wet but happy "the dogs bollox"

A trio of testese.
