  1. Thank you @Gerontious. I have Esch-sur-Sûre on my list for coffee & Pastries. I will probably spend more time in Luxembourg on this trip, with the exception, I might have a ride over to Cochem, and then meander back along the river. The map has some good routes which I can add to the sat nav The Hotel has some good routes they can provide too.
  2. I avoid the shell garage near me at all cost. Robbed me of 50p once when the tyre inflator took my money but never worked.
  3. I need to start planning a couple of routes/ride outs, must include brew and pastry stops . I'm only there midweek, so hopefully find some quiet roads. New Granddaughter means the wife is staying home. Time to try some new routes, I've stayed in Klotten and Kyllberg a couple of times, never ventured much into Luxembourg though.
  4. I have a 300 miler to Folkestone, I don't want to be setting of at the crack of dawn so I've booked a nice little Hotel in the centre of Bethune with secure parking, from the train its a leisurely 55 miles - 2hr non motorway ride to Bethune.
  5. So I have eventually got my sorry arse in gear. Booked 3 nights in Dasburg. Just need to find accommodation a couple of hours from Calais for the first day/night, oh and I need to book the tunnel.
  6. Went for a shake down ride to Blaenau Ffestiniog, round trip of 220 miles over four and a half hours, only stopping once to let some air out of the airhawk seat cushion. Just need to get my act together and get a trip booked now.
  7. It beggers belief, who the hell is buying that shite. Thats who
  8. I might take a look and see if they have anything available towards the end of September.
  9. Never mind fish, Just been to Dominos and they want twenty four shekels for a Pizza
  10. You are correct, and you don't have to take a test. I've just carried on as normal and I haven't caught it off the wife either.
  11. Wife has just recovered from a second bout of covid, she's been off work for 2 weeks, I think the guidance is try to stay at home, try to avoid contact with other people, morally, I suppose its how hard you want to try.
  12. @daveinlim sums it up neatly. I wont always go for the cheapest though, I like to have legal cover, used it twice now
  13. When you find it let us know. I bought the 890 because it worked for me. But the closest I could think of, is the Moto Guzzi V85 TT Travel, but the weight and panniers don't cut it.
  14. I am trying to muster up a plan too. I have the same issue, its 110 miles to Hull, 275 to Folkestone. I'm looking at 18th Sept. I was thinking of going to the Vosges however the Eifel is looking more achievable, Just looked at a place I stayed a few years ago, Hotel Muller Pension in Kyllburg, but website saying its closed. I might send an email to see. I have looked at places in Scotland as a back up, but the prices are double of those in France and Germany. @GerontiousI take it this hotel you frequent is a good place to stay.
  15. Covid is on the rise again, wife tested positive again last week, all clear now, but she has no energy and feels drained.
  16. I think, we might get caught out when temporary zones restrictions are introduced at the discretion of the local authorities. I also come to realise, there are different criteria, permanent zones - Cities, large towns etc, but they have a list of other Cities that can introduce temporary zones. Like you say, for the sake of €4.61. I'd rather have it, than have not.
  17. Euro Jeopardy'. Starting to think its going to be too late. So my dates for heading off on the bike are being pushed back even further. Its now looking like the 18th September before I can head off to either the Vosges or Eifel/Black Forest. I'm my worst enemy, leaving everything until last minute. Need to get my act together, I've left it until the first week of Sept before and enjoyed the wine festivals, but never left it this late. Here's hoping for an Indian summer. Going it alone again , wife will spending her time between work and minding the grad children.
  18. In many French Cities it is now mandatory. I have read if there is a classified pollution leak (as the French call it) in Lille, any vehicle without a sticker or above Euro 4 will be banned, as for just transiting through on the motorway or bypassing is a different matter. I am planning to go to Strasbourg who require a Crit Air.
  19. @Copycat73 Nice pictures, how many days did you go for.
  20. It used be be on Tuesdays, unsure what day it is on now, or even till when.
  21. As long as the owner likes it. I think it looks bloody awful.
  22. Embarrassed to say, it was probably 16 years ago when I was last there. We used to go to the Hen & Chickens in Melling too. I must do better but I don't get out much these days.
  23. I used to go to the Scotch Piper years ago. Are they still doing brews and burgers? I recall a strong police bike presence some years ago due to the fact bikers and their wheelie antics on the road at the front.
  24. Yep. My 2006 Toyota 3.0L V6 gas guzzler is compliant, but I have no intension to drive anywhere near the shithole Londinium
