Fail? Using 'wrong foot' on Mod 2 test
Mickly replied to Deetee's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Are you aware of NABD ( National Association for Bikers with a Disability) ?https://www.nabd.org.uk/ They have a wealth of knowledge on this kind of stuff & you might even qualify for a grant to facilitate a conversion. -
OMG … pass the Kleenex

Happy B’day @fastbob hope you’re having a good one.

Don’t know if it’s in the useful info preceding this, but, according to Alan Millyard & Sam Lovegrove ( both who’s opinions I respect ) the idea is to set the surface & transfer, then put it in place and slide the backing out leaving the transfer in place. Apologies if this has already been mentioned.

Mate had a Shadow, was utterly reliable & an every day ride, had it for 5 years and sold it for more than he bought it for, only sold it coz he’d run out of space.

If you can stand an early start, get across to Hoar Park tomorrow morning, judging by the forecast there will be a good selection of bikes there, plus the Cafe does a Biker special Sausage or Bacon roll plus tea or coffee for £5. Get there for about 10:30 for full effect, everyone buggers off from about 12:00, including me.

Yeah, it’s only a short stretch, but I’ve mapped out a series of lanes linked by roads that goes to near Daventry, gonna get a mate along, shouldn’t really be green laning solo.

Went scoping out some green lanes, there’s one leading over the busy Burton Dassett hills, never have I had so many disapproving stares while doing something legal.

Bikesafe Bikesafe Course Wirral - Day 2
Mickly replied to Fiddlesticks's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Having done a couple of Bikesafe courses I can identify with the Observer effect, we were told to ride as we normally would so the feedback would be useful …. Yeah right, with a copper up your chuff that wasn’t gonna happen, so it was a nerve wracking process of reigning back my normal exuberance while not riding like a spinster with a box of eggs in the top box. They were not fooled, at the first stop and feedback session I was told to stop dicking around and ride properly -
Being a chopper the harness might be home brewed, look up a standard harness for ( I’m guessing ) a XS650 heritage. is the bike new to you or is this a problem that has just happened?

Happy birthday @rennie, here’s hoping there will be Cider involved

Have you actually read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance? It’s bloody hard work !!

Took Zippy on its first green lane expedition - what could go wrong? HS2 that’s what can go wrong, 5 mins into the ride I came across this: no signs at the beginning of the trail and nothing advising as to which way to go: B*stards So I took a left turn and followed a path made by walkers skirting a farmer’s field, only at the point they got back on the track they obviously were able to step over the black plastic barrier - I couldn’t do this but managed to get through it - no pictures as they could be incriminating Further down another section I came across this: what is wrong with people? These were sawn branches deliberately strewn across the track. Probably not a great idea to do this after a period of heavy rain, things got a bit muddy: I ought to get some proper kit before doing this again, don’t think my Alpinestars SMX-5’s are really up to the job. All in all a couple of pleasant hours, worked up a good sweat, but in hindsight doing it with a mate would’ve been better as I would have not been so tentative through the muddy stuff knowing that I’d have help if I f*ckd it up … oh and some better tyres.

Let me know what you think of it.
