  1. It's not the number of points it's the throughput. At Gordano services on the M5 there's about 10 Tesla charging points and I think at the moment about another 10 Ecotricity charge points. So call it 20 points with an average charge time of at least 40 minutes. In that 40 minutes a fuel station can probably shift at least 200 cars through. Imagine a bank holiday weekend in August? Total chaos. EV is great if you use it just for short journeys and charge at home. Not much use for a longer journey. Recently a car magazine did a test of 3 versions of a Peugeot car including an EV version. They were driving from Land's End to John o' Groats (I think). The EV was by far the slowest because to extend your mileage you needed to drive relatively slowly and even then on a cold January day the range was barely 150 miles requiring frequent charging. This took a minimum of 40 minutes assuming you didn't have to wait for a charger to come free. As far as I can see its just another way of restricting the populace but by the back door.
  2. As an old codger have to say it looks very similar to the screen on my bike which was standard anyway. That said I stopped worrying about what was cool round about the time platform shoes were the thing. I thought they were hideously uncomfortable (as well as looking stupid) and ever since then I have gone for comfort over style. My wife has been known to comment adversely as to my lack of style but I really don't care.
  3. Won't be coming back to UK most likely. Least not for a few months. Likely to load in Black Sea Russia for Far East.
  4. Right now thundering past Dover at a dizzy 15 knots. Tide pushing us along nicely. On the way to Sicily with a cargo from Teesport.
  5. My wife loves cavello Nero (kale to normal people) but I effing detest it. Tough, woody green shite. I'm not a rabbit.
  6. I ran my bike in as per manufacturer's instructions in owners handbook. Wasn't difficult and as said by others means any warranty issues are likely to be honoured. The engine must be relatively robust as the warranty on the newest versions (still the same engine) has increased from two years to I believe 5. That might just be a cunning plan to keep you having the bike serviced by the dealer.
  7. Saw some cycle shorts in an ad that looked like a baboons arse. Bright red gel pads on the bum.
  8. 20 miles? Seems a bit daft to me. Bought my bike in central London and it'd done more than 20 miles before I was able to give it anything close to beans. Can't say the engine has given any signs since of being an unhappy motor. How'd I know?
  9. Sounds like a dish on a Chinese takeaway menu.
  10. Somewhat surprised that it doesn't sink up to its axles. Rice paddies I've seen are fairly muddy to say the least.
  11. Classical reference obviously. Straight over my head.
  12. Why do sheds have to be painted hideous orange? Is it so they glow in the dark or somethin? Looks good apart from the colour.
  13. Good grief. Some folks obviously have way too much time on their hands - the cronies that is.
  14. If they were all Harleys your son may well have had a run in with one of the less savoury kind of motorbike clubs and if so he is a) lucky not to be in hospital and b) has no chance of any of them grassing on the rest.
  15. God no, after a weekend at their place I needed a rest from food. The worst of it my ma in law wasn't that good a cook. It was definitely quantity over quality!
  16. My in laws used to have them. I wouldn't mind but they were all skinny. When I visited I felt like I was stuffed like a turkey.
  17. Insurance is good to August only gets problematic if I don't escape in July! Should be okay I think.
  18. My bike is due its first mot in June and of course I'm away. Usually I renew my road fund remotely but of course I can't without an mot so I'll probably sorn it until I get home although it's stashed in a garage at the moment so not exactly an issue. Of course I'd need to ride it somewhere to get mot so how can I tax it? A conundrum.
  19. Don't know anywhere that sells helmet parts other than visors and liners. Try contacting AGV directly? If they can't help it's unlikely anyone else would.
  20. Reckon I'm from further north than you and for my family its breakfast, lunch, dinner and if for some reason your underfed supper. On special days you can squeeze in tea as well between lunch and dinner. Never, ever luncheon though.
  21. Exactly and it's why I was pissed off with Drift. Tried a Gopro and ended up going back to Drift but with the XL which does what I want. I find 1080 video is good enough. I'm not you tubing and not boring the arse of folks showing my efforts on a large format TV. It's good enough on my laptop.
  22. I had the 4K and bought the external battery pack. It lasted a full day's riding. Warning the 4K is NOT waterproof. I got caught out in heavy rain and it died. Replaced it with the XL which is waterproof and has a 9 hour battery life. Is cheaper too but doesn't have 4K screen resolution.
  23. Have every sympathy for disabled folks but there are some things which they have to accept you can't do. There are specially adapted boats for disabled people but they are a significant expense which a lot of training providers can't afford. Throw a dog in the mix and it becomes even more problematic. Not all dogs are suitable. I know of at least one who gets seasick.
