  1. Just back from my bimble to Burton Dassett. The folly has a new roof
  2. I must admit the BMW rider was way more polite than I was going to be, it was me that was nearest when nobhead pulled out. I had to slow from 60 to 30ish quite quick to avoid messing with his back end
  3. The idiot that pulled out in front of me and a bloke on a pannierered up BMW, on the A5, and we were doing 60. At a roundabout at the start of the A4616 we stopped at traffic lights BMW rider pulled up beside nobhead and had a quiet word, along the lines "do you make a habit of pulling out in front of two bikes doing 60? Didn't hear the response
  4. If I have to use motorway services I look for a baguette place for a large BLT
  5. Off to another high spot tomorrow, Burton Dassett in Warwickshire. Not as good as Matlock, but will be less crowded. There are some decent twisties on the way, like the B4525, but it's mostly a 50mph route now
  6. The only reason I would ever go into a Mcdonalds' is if I need the loo, and I carry a nhs card so they can't really refuse me
  7. When you think about it, how can you be lost if you don't know where you are going to in the first place
  8. Rode mine to Dunstable Downs. Chap parked up next to me on a1200 bandit. Its smaller than my 600! I had a sit on it now I know what I want for Xmas
  9. Are you gripping the tank with your legs as you ride? The constant tightening of the thigh muscles will cause the pain you are feeling, hence the pain going when you stop and dismount
  10. EBC do brake discs so you could try them
  11. I don't think much thought was put into the new highway code changes
  12. When I was in hospital having my large bowel removed they put a guy with vascular dementia on our ward. He kept everyone awake at night with his constant shouting out, and worse, he did not speak a word of English so none of the nurses could get through to him
  13. Are you sure it's not just far away?
  14. Happy birthday fozzie
  15. My 600 has a different rake, if that's the correct term, compared to the 500. The bars on the 500 keep my wrist at a straighter angle with the rest of the arm, compared to the bars on the 600, so are more comfortable on long rides, (my wrists don't ache). How can I source some bars for the 600 that have the same swept angle as those on the 500? Pics below may show what I mean.
  16. Probably cost a lot more than that
  17. There is a place near me called Northants V twin, (Ian Frog knows the place), and every Saturday 2 or 3 HDs ride into town from Silverstone way, on the Weedon Road and I can hear them from my house. This Saturday I thought it was a thunderstorm
  18. Well, the 500 is alive. The oil filter arrived Friday, so that was fitted, then rather than waiting for the replacement thermal switch I set about repairing the broken one. I cut off the surrounding material to the connector and fitted a naked male connector to the broken remains, with a small length of wire to a spade terminal which then plugged into the original terminal, and then fitted a rubber cap full of epoxy glue onto the switch for waterproofing. Ran the bike via the starter motor for a while to pump oil around, filled the cooling system with new antifreeze mix, then added a makeshift fuel tank. Bike wouldn't start to begin with, so checked plugs for spark, all OK and dry, so no unburnt fuel/flooding, so a good sign. Put it all back together and tried again, this time I held the throttle open slightly and boom! Off she went like She had never broken down. Slight issue of coolant leak from thermostat housing, this caused by a dried out O ring, and this was fixed with a touch of sealant. So,all I need now is replacement side panels and an MOT
  19. How about a "does my bum look big on this" section, where you post pics of yourselves astride your/a motorbike. You never know, it could turn into the fat boy appreciation section (the bike, that is)
