  1. merry Christmas one and all. May 2023 bring you the present you really want
  2. So many brands to choose from, so which one should @rennie pick, A B C or D? He picked the last one, because that was the D cider
  3. Thieves stole a few electric vehicles from a charging compound. The police are following a number of leads, and hope charges will follow
  4. Let's be honest, we're all power mad. to quote JC, "more power"
  5. Bloody good brakes, and realising he was turning right just early enough to stop. The driver just drove off as if nothing had happened. To be truthful, if the road conditions had been better I would have been going faster and never would have stopped in time
  6. The Stobart driver leaving a lorry park on the A5, left indicator going, so I moved over towards the kerb to give him the room to turn, only for him to turn right, into my path. I was at the speed limit and had headlight and led lights on.
  7. Rode into a snowstorm on the M1 this morning on the way to work. Not good when snow covers your visor at 70ish
  8. They are finally happy they have got the justice the Mum promised Harry just before he died. The posters will now be taken down at the blind bend where Harry was hit
  9. Best rifle I ever owned, though I would not have dared to go out without it being in a case
  10. Bit too late for me
  11. +1 for motobatt and the extra CCA
  12. Not quite my first bike, but +1 for the cb500. The best £300 I ever spent. (I've spent more on it now the con rod broke, but I ain't getting rid of it any time soon). Its probably the longest I've ever kept on to a bike
  13. Slow running/mixture screw 11/2 to 2 turns out
  14. The valve obviously sized in the guide after getting bent, but how the stem came out of the collets I don't know. Only a slight mark on the piston crown so no damage there
  15. Update. Took head off and found this. Collects were still in the collar, but the valve was stuck in the guide and no wonder. Needless to say I won't be straightening this
  16. There is a dealer near the general hospital in Northampton that I intend to go to
  17. Thanks for all the replies. I loved the layout and position of the bars and pegs on the lowered version, but that was on a stationery bike, so I really need to actually get out on one to see if it's what I want. I assume in advance there will be less vibration through the handlebar due to engine layout than from my 600,which is a good thing
  18. As posted elsewhere on here I am looking to upgrade to a BMW750, so am looking at booking a test ride. Having never done this before I'm looking for info on what it entails. I have looked on BMW motorrad and checked out the site and the test ride option but have not yet chosen to book, so I'm wondering about the insurance aspect, (I can ride any bike but it will be 3rd party only on my policy), does someone ride with you, etc, how long do you get the bike for, can you ride it on any route or a set ride?
  19. Bit belated, but @mickly
  20. Got a nice HJC helmet with sun visor and pinlock for £90 today. Will do nicely on my commute. On a side note, I'm thinking of trading in the cbf in the new year for a BMW750. Sat on it today on the motoraad stand, lowered suspension so 760mm seat height, in triple black. Likey Likey a lot
  21. It is. I originally had to do the left side, but I put that down to being the side the conrod broke on, so now not so sure
  22. Goooooood mooooorning fellow bikers. I'm off to motorcycle live. If anyone else going keep an eye out for the t-shirt with death giving it the middle finger on it
  23. Won't know until I strip the bloody thing, but the way I'm feeling at the moment it might get left until the Xmas break
  24. Engine has been rebuilt after suffering a busted conrod, valve clearances were done by me in 2020,with different shims to bring back into tolerance. Replaced the big end and pistons with a complete set of crank, conrod and pistons via fleabay, all from the same year/model as mine, and from what I can find in my research there were no engine changes from 1993 until 2003 (mines 1994) so the straight swap should be fine. The only thing I had to change were the bearing journals to match the new crank. As already posted in a previous topic I discovered no compression in the left hand cylinder before due to the exhaust valves being slightly bent, and I straightened them out as they were only slightly bent so didn't seal properly. If the RH ones are now bent I'm flummoxed as to why
