  1. Took the 500 for its MOT today, but never reached the test centre. Bike started first time, and ticked over nicely while I finished kitting up and opened the garage. Stopped at a red light, everything still OK, but as soon as I moved off the bike stuttered like it lacked fuel, but got me to the next set of lights though still rough lights changed and as I pulled off the bike lost all engine power and began backfiring then stopped altogether. Phoned and cancelled the MOT, then called the RAC. Chap turns up in his van, I explain what's happened and his reply threw me. Because the bike had no MOT or Tax he could only arrange recovery to a garage, not my home. After a brief conversation between us he offered to help Push the bike back home, (fair play mate) which is exact what we did. Anyway, stripped tank off to get at plugs and gave the cylinders a compression test. I have zero compression from the right hand cylinder, and I am stumped. Why has it lost compression now, yet has ran lovely whilst stationery and up and down the alley to check the gears
  2. Not even a takeaway?
  3. MOT the 500 tomorrow, and off to motorcycle live on Sunday. Need to get a new lid for the commute to work, I'm not wearing a £500+ helmet to work with nowhere to store it, even if I can put it in its bag
  4. Any one heard of this place? https://www.bikesanctuary.co.uk/ Apparently its just outside Northampton, but in a farmer's yard by the looks of it
  5. Flipping Eck, a BMW I like the look of, without the beak, and all in black. I must be getting old
  6. Added the 500 to my 600s insurance policy. No extra cost, so a result. Will tax it tomorrow when it comes live, then get it in for its MOT ASAP. Just in time for my new commute to work (22 miles each way) in the crap weather
  7. The sort of thing that should be buried, cos deep down it's probably not that bad
  8. @Gerontious, only a dipstick would need a torque wrench to do up a dipstick
  9. Took it out of hibernation. Had job interview near Rugby today, and I'm now back in work from Monday
  10. Why only 6 years each? Be out in 3
  11. It's not always the thread on the bolt that is at fault. It is very easy to strip the threads out of a aluminum block if you overdo it, and any grease or oil in a blind hole can be compressed to such a degree that it can split the block
  12. As @Bender said, do it in 2nd. It's only a short distance, so engine will be fine, but 3rd gear is not quick enough to get you to the required speed from the bend to the speed trap, unless your confident enough to go through the bend at a decent speed.
  13. My mate said he is treating himself to a dictaphone for Xmas. I said why not just buy a mobile instead
  14. To be truthful, who could ever say a man torques too much
  15. I used torque wrenches on all the internal bolts when I rebuilt the 500, and on things like the water pump and all sprocket retainers, clutch nut, stator, etc, but the cover bolts were all done by feel. By using the appropriate size ratchet drive I know if I can't tighten them any more they are tight enough
  16. Sometimes I press the button to cancel my indicators but it doesn't always switch them off
  17. Cleaning bikes and hibernating them for the rest of the year. Job ended unexpectedly yesterday, as we have no work. The volumetric bathroom pods we meant to start building at the start of October has been put on hold for 3 months, so rollformer does not need to run. May still do NEC, though now I don't have to wait for the weekend to go. PS, I have been told if work picks up in January they will ring me and take me on through the company, not an agency
  18. There is a YouTube video showing how to move chain, etc for a 2021 model
  19. You've heard of Richie Rich, well we've got Richy Rishy
  20. That's the same as the PDF I posted on here. It wouldn't let me cut and paste the website as a link so I compromised
  21. @Riley try this. CB125F_32KPNB11_0.pdf

    Taxes

Unfortunately any pay rise costs or tax increases will always filter down to those of us that can least afford them. The Government should be looking at taxing the huge bonuses the top dogs get, basically for sitting on their arse in some swanky office. What always irks me is the shop floor workers are the ones producing the products for their employer to sell, at a profit, yet don't benefit from those profits, but some suit in an office can get as much in a bonus as an average wage for their employees on the shop floor
  23. I had Bridgestones on the 600 before, and they were really bad on white lines or where the road surface overlapped from having to put down more than one layer on a wide road
  24. Definitely the Pilots Fitted 4s to the 600 at last change and they have made a great difference in the wet
  25. Judging by the state of the ground near them they have been planted to stop parking on the verges
