  1. As you are effectively changing lanes you should be indicating to those behind you of your intentions. Make sure you shoulder check as well
  2. Happy birthday @MikeHortonenjoy your day
  3. Bit late but happy birthday @Hoggs
  4. Good to have you back on here @fastbob we've all missed your posts. Nice work on the models though, I just don't have the patience to build them anymore and just get covered in glue
  5. The use of a left shoulder life saver probably saved me from harm about a week ago. 4 lanes leading to a roundabout and I needed to be in the second from left, for a straight ahead route, clearly marked on the road. I checked mirrors, activated my indicator, then looked over my shoulder just to be sure though I knew the lane was clear only to have some twat undertake me at speed, that then cut across all the lanes only to have to stop at the lights. I managed to pull up beside the dickhead, saw his passenger window was open so I explained to him what I thought of him. he had tinted sunglasses on, in dull weather, and just stared straight ahead with no acknowledgement that I was there at all
  6. Bikes and biscuits only, thank you
  7. Best kitchen gadget I've bought in a long time
  8. If my memory serves me correctly anything you report as found/or use to take to a police station becomes yours after 3 months if not claimed. I got a rather decent racing bike that way some years ago when I could ride one
  9. As far as plod are concerned it ain't stolen until reported stolen
  10. Maybe @Stu could PM him to check he is OK. I would, but don't know him well enough to intrude on his privacy
  11. Fitted panniers to the 500, then went shopping. Bike runs really sweet now, let's hope it stays that way
  12. MOT'd the 500, passed with no advisories then taxed it. Just putting the clock/voltmeter back on and a new (to me) tomtom satnav, as the other one covers the clocks. May refit the engine crash bars before taking it out on the road
  13. Dropped it. The camber after the dropped curb at the end of my alleyway is quite steep and I need decent revs to get onto the road. Trying to avoid someone's dog shit this morning I turned sharper than normal and the bike leaned over too far and I was unable to stop it going. No damage, that I can see, just the mirror knocked back and the auxiliary light knocked out of position. Weirdest thing though, when I tried to restart the bike it was as if the battery was flat so had to use my booster pack
  14. It's good that you were able to get back out on it, and I hope it gets better the more you use it
  15. 45 years and in the tens of thousands. My in the rear whilst stationary was at a massive fairly new roundabout on the Bedford Road in Northampton hit by a posh Merc when waiting for the opportunity to go. Crushed the rear of the mobylette I was riding and launched me into the air, and I came down on my arse facing the Merc. A head popped up from down in the passenger side and eventually got out of his car. I hurt too much to stand up, and all he said was "sorry, I was going straight on" he was reluctant too through his insurance, so I squeezed £600 out of him and scrapped the moby and bought a C70
  16. How about a BMW750GS? Certainly got two up grunt, and judging from what I got from the NEC, very comfortable
  17. Put fuel in the 500 and took it for a quick shakedown round the block. First time it has been ridden since it failed to make it to the MOT. That was caused by a valve slipping its collets, and luckily the only damage was a bent valve stem. Bought a used pair of valves from a ebayer stripping a 500 to sell parts for charity, and new collets from M&P Swansea. All I need to do now is get it MOT'd and taxed, but won't be using it for the commute to work until I know its going to be reliable (don't fancy breaking down on the motorway)
  18. Corner of the nearest pub would be better
  19. I was curious, so have googled "starter solenoid" for your bike and it did indeed come up as the relay in your pics. The only other thing I can think of is a knackered sprag clutch putting too much load on the battery to turn the starter over
  20. That is indeed a heavy duty relay. Has someone switched that for the correct part
