  1. Ignition wiring takes a lot of current, so a starter solenoid is fitted inline, and when you switch on the ignition a small voltage is supplied to a set of contacts that energise a electro magnet in the solenoid and this closes the circuit to the starter motor. If the starter motor brushes are worn out or the windings are dirty, or the solenoid is dirty it will take more cranking amps to fire it up. The live lead from the battery should go to the solenoid, so try tracing that leads' path
  2. As Stu says, buy a repair kit
  3. Not sure why first picture is upside down. Anyway, home made bar and tube 22mm size bolted together and fixed to screen. Now I can see the satnav better
  4. This. Moved satnav from handlebars to better position
  5. I carry a lithium polymer battery booster power pack that's half the size of a video case. Will jump a 1.2 ltr engine, charge USB devices, has a light and will hold its charge for about 10 years
  6. The optimate puts out enough to take a good battery up to a max voltage of 14.2 volts, (its higher than what the battery actually is so it can reach a full charge) and your battery should register 13.7 volts fully charged if all 6 cells are functioning correctly
  7. Starter clutch is not engaging properly so it's just spinning the starter
  8. @Joe85it may be a good idea to try a battery wjth a higher cold cranking amps than your standard one, though it sounds like your starting to get a dodgy cell on your current one so not getting enough amps
  9. Thanked it for having ABS brakes. Learner biker crossed through a gap in the traffic to my right and straight onto the bus lane that I was in, in front of me. Pulled up alongside him at a set of lights and made my feelings known. He was really lucky I didn’t broadside the idiot, and no one went into the back of me after my emergency stop
  10. My old man used to call them cooking fats. My step mother never cottoned on to it
  11. Welcome to our humble forum
  12. When my milk kept getting nicked at work I replaced it with coolant from my m/Cs soluble oil and water looked just right. Milk never got touched again.
  13. I bet you thought there wasn't going to be a job after finding there was no work after new year was done
  14. On the bus once and two teenagers were fecking about with a smart phone, playing all the different ringtone on loudspeaker, then it rang properly. I laughed at the reply to the caller - "can I call you back later, me battery's nearly dead"
  15. I ride 2 thirds of the way from the kerb, and generally straighten out roundabouts if there is no other traffic on it or behind me, especially if there is more than one lane onto it from my direction
  16. Thought about going, but decided it was too wet
  17. Not from Facebook, but my news feed. Meet starts at the sycamore cafe at 10am and leaves at 12 noon for a figure of eight circuit heading towards Bedford and back. Monies collected goes to the air ambulance - collection buckets are toted round at the sycamore. There is a short briefing before setting off
  18. It was more of a "fix some idiots balls up" thread than a resto thread though. I thought the 125 I bought was bad, but at least that was just the engine
  19. First ride with the new lever. It's either the placebo effect or my front brakes are definitely working sharper
  20. Bought some adjustable levers for the 600. brake lever is spot on, but can't use the clutch lever. It sits further away from the grip than the original, and there is no switch activator. Got them from Motea
