  1. I broke down very early one morning in Leigh Delamere services on the M4 .... Bearded chap wandered over and asked what the problem was ... told him and said AA was coming to get the bike and take it back to Ipswich but i was going to Truro .... So Rick Wakefield dropped me off at St Davids station in Exeter and i got the train the rest of the way ....nice chap.
  2. Guy gets arrested for murdering Santa. There’s no evidence ... But he had probable Claus.
  3. We watched the rugby yesterday, both matches. Julie had a bath while i did prawn cocktail and chips for dinner. She watched The Masked Singer while i read Cycling in the conservatory then we watched 2 editions of Marcella with a few glasses of wine... then to bed to read .. Throughout this entire process no one shouted “Grandad, Grandad” or “She’s got my phone” or screamed “Get out of my bedroom” ... Yes we love them, and we miss them .... but it’s like being on holiday ....
  4. I switch off when i put the bins out for collection, and you have to remember not to bang the lids too hard .....
  5. Nowhere to put a metal shed .... there is no access for a motorbike through the house to the back garden so it lives with a U lock and and a Oxford chain and lock under a heavy duty, padded waterproof cover ... It has been there for over 2 years now .... to nick it you would have to use a crane to lift it over the Transit, the motorhome and the Aygo. Oh.. and move the wheelie bins, both of which have motion sensor alarms fitted ....
  6. Haven’t got a garage .... but would love one ... the Himma lives outside ...
  7. Wasted space ... can’t park the bikes on it ....
  8. Would you like to apply that to the current situation we find ourselves in ...??
  9. Once upon a time on a mountain far away ... we had a member of our MRT that would slip into his single man tent, insert a catheter and go to sleep ... the line being quite long and outside his tent or basha ... When we camped on snowfields the Day-Glo patch outside his tent confirmed his use of TB recovery drugs ...
  10. On joining the RAF 45 years ago at our initial training we had jabs .... Line up, stripped to the waist, 16 of us. We walked forward and 2 medics gave us 2 jabs in each arm ... at the last medic you carefully pulled your trousers down to expose your buttocks and a frighteningly pretty medic jabbed your bum. Hardly assault .... And just 12 months later we where flying all around the world ... safely jabbed ...
  11. NO CHILDREN !! First weekend in over 12 months with NO CHILDREN !! We don’t know what to do .... were out of practice at existing as a couple ... Practice, thats it, .... we’ll have to practice ...... ....
  12. We’re cycling it in September ... what ever Buffoon or Wee Jimmy Krankie says .... wild camping and riding at night if necessary....
  13. Disagreeing with someones point of view isn’t intolerance ... it leads to discussion .... sharing of opinion and maybe, education. "unwillingness to accept views, beliefs, or behaviour that differ from one's own."
  14. I think it’s about time they banned those bloody motorbikes ... screaming round the roads pretending to be racers. All dressed up in their leather clothes, frightening my dog and horses. Riding round the woods churning up the footpaths, causing chaos ...... It’s so easy to be intolerant of others isn’t it .....
  15. Us Lycra clad cyclists are out in force everywhere ..... why don’t you like Lycra ..... does it secretly excite you ???? Can you not look at MAMIL’S without getting a little bit hard ... Try it, you know you want to .....
  16. This is a well known problem with the Himalayan. Usually attributed to the vapour recycling system that has an influence on tank breathing. Having a kinked or partially trapped hose causes the engine to cut out in neutral, usually at the lights ! I removed the entire system .... not had an issue since. So check your tank breathing system ....
  17. We're on top of a hill ... the highest outside of the Peaks in South Yorkshire .... but it’s well drained as the hill has been mined for coal ... a certain amount of subsidence, but reasonably stable. Silverwood Colliery in the valley below sunk the shaft and after 2 years was following the seam uphill !! My wifes great uncle sank the shaft as a lad .... and is still down there after a cave-in in his 40’s ....

  19. You cant even warm a pie up at work, thats the problem with induction furnaces .... we had gas fired walking beam furnaces at my steel works ... speed up the walk, put pies on the entry ... recover perfectly cooked pies before they fell into the quench ,,,, lovely We have full English brekkie for Sunday dinner .... and a small roast mid week when the girls are with us .... they go to Uncle johns Saturday and Sunday now .... gives us a bit of a break .... But Riley (3), comes Saturday morning until Sunday morning ..so break is probably the wrong word ...
  20. I’m always amazed how sensitive Drivers are to track conditions ..... Drivers do not have the best rep in the industry ... Unionised to the hilt and will go to great lengths NOT to take a train into traffic... "Oh my chair isn’t warm enough “ ...."The windscreen wash is empty" ..... AT THE OTHER END OF THE TRAIN !!!! But just now and again they star ..... superstar ..... ....
  21. Being a resident of rural Somerset I would have thought you would be used to that ....
  22. Powerful vehicles don’t kill people, just as guns don’t kill .... Keep your legislation for humans ... anything else is pointless i believe.
  23. Dozens of skilled Fitters, Technicians and Engineers available due to closures in other industries .. especially Aviation. Covid has not impacted our operations at all, keeping up with all the different rail depots requirements took a while but sorted months ago. Working hours are tightly legislated and monitored iaw Railway Group Standards. It’s a good place to be at the moment.... we’re buried in work for the foreseeable future.
  24. We're Railway Engineers, Hydraulic and fluid transfer systems and Traction and braking control systems .... Hoses and Sanders basically.
  25. I’m bored at work today to be honest ... we’re in a “phoney war” period before 5 major projects kick off ...So ... catching up with work admin, training and recruitment .... Enjoying the calm before the storm ...
