Rant time.

It's it just me that gets annoyed at all the people "I have a pet, you cannot have fire works!"

Is it not part of owning an animal to teach them about loud noises, yes it's hard work some animals are better than others.

Show them your not scared and that is part of life, if they trust you they will accept the noises.

The last 2 years we lured our dog out with snacks. This year we have a new dog in the house, as I left to go to work misses was in the garden with big bag of dog treats watching fireworks.

We are missing Missing trick or treat this year, lots of Knocks in the door ideal for dog training.

We supply kids dog snacks for them to feed dog (the majority like doing it), they get there treats, suddenly knocks on for are fun for the dogs not points of aggression!

When the haters are bikers I point out that loud exhaust noise is as bad. When they say your dog is fine with them (every bike that passes gets a raised head it might be a friend), I point out how many bike meets I drove to with the dog to settle him round loud bikes...

I'm afraid that I just can't quite see what point you're making here . 🤔

I suspect a few sips of some beverage of an alkyfrolic nature may have contributed to the composition of the message.

Having said that I love fireworks and the more badass the better. But as we have livestock in the fields around us I don't have fireworks. Not just the noise but also the debris that animals ingest with fatal consequences. Those floating lanterns are the worst things for livestock.

Might just be a local thing then which is good to hear, round here one mention of fireworks and there is up raw.

"My dog will be terrified", "think of the animals", "My aunty she is scared of them" Ban them they should not be allowed...

Not one thought that its not very often and some people enjoy them...

Petitions to government to have them banned, pictures of dogs terrified in corners etc etc etc

PS First post eddited to make it more clear

PPS I was in middle of night shift, not drunk.

Correct. And its usually longer than two weeks!! Firework season around these parts is pretty much from now until January

Exactly ! I love a good firework display and last year we had one of the best I've ever seen at Coventry Rugby Club but these selfish twats who let them off at random from now until New Years Eve can all f**k off .

I think a little bit of effort training pets not to be afraid of fire works is better than whining about them particularly when it’s all so predictable.

I trained all of mine and puppy’s I bred in the past with a sounds CD (yer it was a while ago and it was ‘CD’) so they went to their clueless owners already fine with loud noises.

It’s so simple. Start it playing at low volume and everyday play it a little louder. It’s amazing what they’re not bothered about it if introduced slowly and if you do it when they’re pups it lasts, no need to redo it, they just remember.

The sound CD didn’t include a drill sound though- hot air balloon, screeching train breaks, explosions all fine but a drill oh no!

I just wish that there were only organised displays and the general public were banned from buying them, there have been some twats just throwing them in peoples gardens under their windows etc.

Our cats aren't bothered by them and will sit and watch them out of the windows sometimes, but more often than not will just carry on sleeping  :thumb:

Our dog was fine with fireworks and guns but vacuum cleaners and electric lawnmowers were to be killed on sight.

The patterdale couldn't give a toss about anything except for ironing boards. One fell on him when he was a pup. Watching him trying to bite an ironing board to death is quite entertaining.

A dog that tries to destroy anything to do with ironing is my type of dog :D

I dislike buying them because they are a waste of money, might aswell set fire to a pile of £20 notes.

Is that pets or fireworks?

Both are consumers of money and time and loved by some, loathed by others !

Cheers

Fireworks but the same would apply to cats, dogs etc.

Don't dislike cats or dogs, just don't want the hassle or expense of owning any again.

We had two cats some years ago, well the Mrs and kids did, I just stumped up the vet bills, picked up the turds in the garden, put up with cat hair everywhere, clawed doors and furniture, yelling at them to get off the settee or kitchen worktops; lots of positives really.

We look after a Westie for two weeks a year and while I enjoy him being with us, the same reasons still apply for not wanting to own one, hassle and expense.

He is a cute mutt and goes crazy when I get home on my bike, don't know why as I don't make much of a fuss of him or feed him or anything.

Cos the dog is trying to secure his position and wants to know he’s safe. If he greets you enthusiastically and you respond he knows your ok with him there and don’t pose a threat.

Well that’s what they say but who knows I’ve yet to come across ‘Dog’ on Google translate.

Sadly it's down to the fact that only that persons opinion matters and anything else is wrong and should be banned full stop.

We're now a country of snowflake arsewipes who cannot accept others doing something they don't agree with.

No pet that spends any time in this house is likely to be bothered by fireworks! :D
