Good afternoon!

Car shopping went well on the weekend, I went around a few garages. Ford, BMW, Kia, and Hyundai. The one me and my good lady agreed on was a Kia Xceed. It's everything I should need for the next 10+ years, and deals with the possibility of kids, and all sorts. Just hashing out final details as there's a few in the trim and price bracket I like.

On the upside, I've been told I can have my girlfriends car to trade in for something I like down the line... When I've recovered financially...

Good Evening :classic_biggrin:

I thought I'd just about recovered from whatever I/We have had since weeks before Christmas!

I was feeling about 98% normal ( normal for me I mean :classic_biggrin:).

Now I think it's coming back again!

Not ill as such just feeling drained and funny head/ear/sinus stuff going on

@Fozzie  Quite like Kia's. You get a lot for your money. My Wife had a Kia Rio as a lease car for 3 years and we seriously considered buying one before she decided to lease something else instead. Only fault I found with it was the clutch was a bit sharp so it took me a while to not be setting off from the lights doing a little wheel spin

That is an exact description of what Carol is going through, Prior to our holiday sinus and severe hearing loss in one ear.

A few days after the new year felt much better then last week almost back to square one with the symptoms which we blamed on her workplace (hospital) but we keep hearing of others with similar issues.

Cheers

Ian

@Fozzie Your head must be full of it, all that detail to consider.

My day job is in engineering so I'm quite technically minded, so I might have an advantage there. Haggling can get a bit interesting, as I have zero tolerance for pushy sales tactics. And I'm fine with little errors, but if I feel it's too much I can ask pointed questions already knowing the answers. A chap at Ford told 3 or 4 pretty bad lies about a Puma we were looking at, and if I really want a car, I'll stay polite and level but I can speak quite bluntly. And it's hard to recover from that, and I've walked away from deals I was silly to turn down really. Even if it's a point of principle, it has cost me a lot over the years

Thanks for the info! I noticed the sharp clutch on Hyundai's, which I believe shares the same parent company so I guess they share a parts bin. It was like a switch more than a clutch! When I took the Xceed for a spin, it didn't have the same issue. Does need a bit of gas to get it off the line though, after which it pulls quite hard. But nothing a race chip module won't sort out if it bothers me, usually they add a good chunk of torque to the turbo engines :bike2:

Same here, lasted about a week and took about a month to very slowly go away.  But the last couple of days it looks like it wants another go.

I think I'd rather have the Black Death, you only get that once !

Good evening. Before moving to Cumbria I lived in Norwich for 30years, and a fine city it is, too. Sometimes I stumble across bits of information relating to Norwich that are … surprising?

This for example. Don’t click the link if you’re of a sensitive nature. 😂

Ah, leave us not forget Slutshole Lane - also in Norfolk. It’s not far from the Route 11 “biker” cafe if you’re ever in the area.

great how your thinking ahead but have tou actually tried it out? how do you know its right for you without having tested it with them?  Not being picking have have you or anyone else has kids or babies tou could borrow for a bit to work out actually how much shite youll need or things are actually good ideas 😱🤭.

Sometimes it might feel right now but dont pin yourself to it financially for ages either... we started with one, were on our forth car with one kid at 11, i know some have done more.

admitted one car died, pcp term finished 😢missed it but potentially dodged a bullet? Wife passionatly hated one (admittedly i had no love for it nor no real positives but it did do stuff, loves this one but hopefully will beable to keep this one for a good few more years to come cos at the mo nothing we see that fits the bill as well.
nothing wrong with saving a shed of money on a slightly used car (long term), or trusting a well looked after gem...ive been on the three scales and know others have, up to you just saying.

Yup borrow someone else's kids then hand them back and go buy the first 2 seater car you can find 😁

A lot can happen in 10yrs even boredom (with the car (hopefully)).

We bought nearly new for wife's car, had it nearly 7yrs now, saved fair bit on new price and a lot more on not replacing it.

We're lucky to have a few in the household so nothing has to fit any one role but the time is rapidly approaching when somehow that will have to be dwindled down to 1, except I've got at least 2 I'm not parting with, that's going to be interesting 🤔
