Ehcbr125 Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 Hi guys, I hope you’re all keeping well?! I know you’re probably all sick of me by now but I’m curious...Put simply when I ride the 650 I get nods from loads of people however if I’m on the 125 I don’t seem to get any... it’s making me feel inferior Am I being a snowflake or is this actually a thing? Quote
fastbob Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 Oh no ! Not another " Nodding " thread to add to the billions of words wasted on the subject already . Quote
geofferz Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 Most here will say they nod to everyone, which I do. Quote
husoi Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 Another one with the complex of "size matters..." Ride what you need/want and suits you and stop giving a crap about what others think!!!! Quote
dynax Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 Don't get hung up about it, i nod and more often than not i get them back, and that's with me riding a chinese bike with handbags and Loser plates Quote
learningtofly Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 Oh no ! Not another " Nodding " thread to add to the billions of words wasted on the subject already . Haha... I knew that would be from you before I checked Quote
Mickly Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 Didn’t there used to be an inferior Bike Forum called Nodding Dogs? Think it disappeared up it’s own sphincter due to crap Moderation & the poor quality of the members Quote
manxie49 Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 I wouldn't worry about it, I do nod to all bikes, including scooter riders .... Especially the really nice student nurse who lives near me that I pass daily Quote
raesewell Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 Sometimes I nod so much my head nearly falls off. When I have my wife as pillion I get her to do a wave so I can keep my head on my shoulders. Quote
dynax Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 Then there is the european style leg shake, which always makes me laugh, as i think to myself have they just peed themselves Quote
MarkW Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 I always got a nod on the ZZR1200 and the K1600, but hardly any on the 'Glide for some reason... Anyway, even though I am currently 'without bike' I'm not missing out on the camaraderie of the road: Wrangler owners all wave at each other the way bikers nod. Friendliest bunch you'll meet on four wheels. Quote
raesewell Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 How do they know you are wearing Wranglers? Quote
Ehcbr125 Posted November 6, 2020 Author Posted November 6, 2020 Keep your wigs on guys jeez. I was joking - I thought the emojis would explain that Genuinely curious to get others bikers answers as to why. I’ll assume the ones who have moaned about me asking are the same ones that don’t nod! I personally think it’s rude when they stare at you, you nod to them and nothing. If you don’t want to interact that’s fine but there’s no need to stare! I’ve genuinely noticed a difference and if you ask me it’s a my dicks bigger than yours complex. The rudeness on here has actually proved my point! Such a shame as most of you are a nice bunch. If my post is boring or you’ve read it all before or you don’t like what I have to say then don’t comment, don’t be rude! Quote
Cpt_Tact Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 I've switched to my left hand up like a non-moving wave rather than nodding, works much easier for large groups as well Quote
Guest Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 I nod even at scooterists who never nod back. I usually wave at cyclists when I pass. I think it's nice for people to be friendly on the roads. Quote
dynax Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 Ehcbr125 don't take it personally, one of the thing's you have to develop is a thick skin and learn to brush stuff off Quote
Slowlycatchymonkey Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 I’ve noticed no difference in nods between bikes. When I had target plates I’d swear other bikers went out of their way to be nice. Or perhaps they were just giving me a wide berth Car drivers on seeing L plates however Quote
Bungleaio Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 I nod to everyone but the vast majority ignore me. The joys of riding a GS. Quote

Tankbag Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 I'll nod at anyone whatever bike I'm on although I've noticed on the works bikes some riders almost look away as if my nod is bestowing bad luck Quote
Ian Frog Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 I have to admit I split my time between 3 totally different bikes (ZRX1200R, 2005 Hayabusa, Harley superglide) and I have to admit I get less response when on the Hardley. Also for what its worth the "adventure" type bikes seem less likely to nod regardless of what bike I am on, thats probably because they know me lol.As has been said before so what be happy and have fun (unless it`s Chinese lol).CheersIan Quote
