Gaarmstrong318 Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 (edited) Hi folks, long time lurker, rare poster I’m just having my bike serviced ready for the year (it’s been used over winter but rarely due to the beerbug and I have been wanting to do a special trip this year. I finally decided that I want to go watch the sunrise in Scarborough (on the sea wall on marine drive to be specific) assuming lockdown is lifted enough to allow it and assuming it’s going to be a clear morning I am going to go on Saturday 19th or Sunday 20th I’ll plan to get there at 4am does anyone else fancy coming to see it? I did it in 2019 and I just liked sitting on the sea wall and listening to waves and watching the sunrise. just in case we have any overseas folks I mean Scarborough in Yorkshire, in the UK. Mississippi Bullfrog Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Last time I did that was longer ago than I care to remember. We went to the west coast to watch the sun set, then to the east coast to watch it rise. 1 Quote

None of this all night malarkey although if it was midsummer it's a short night. Quote

Stopped off at my mum’s in the midlands on route. A never to be repeated experience. I may do it the opposite way at some point, watch the sun set over Solway, watch it rise at Alnwick, or thereabouts. That way I could get a few hours’ kip at home, too. Quote

dynax Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 Bees have been around far longer than we have. It is our own failings that require us to need the use of calendars and clocks and every other gizmo, to be able to tell the time of year and hour of the day Quote

This is something that could be pretty interesting and a good ride/stay over etc! Empty roads at that time in the morning etc Sadly I would have to say no as its my birthday weekend and would be in no fit state 1 Quote

Bianco2564 Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 We watched the summer and almost winter solstice sunrise last year from Avon Dasset country park. We were lucky with the weather in June, a slight gap in the clouds at sunrise was short lived and 10 mins later it was clouded over. The December event was held a day earlier as the actual day was a total washout. You can always rely on the British weather to try and have you over. Quote
Stu Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 I do like a good sunrise and sunset Sadly I am shit with a camera so never get any good pics Quote

Pie man Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 I like the idea, 'Sunrise in Scarborough', but I'm too lazy to get up early and ride the two and a half hours to get there Quote
