So whilst playing songs and annoying alexa couple of nights ago it transpired that she forgot who I was, funny at time didn't think much of it.

Fast forward tonight, went into amazon on TV, Hmmm profiles all gone save for a new one called Karl.....

Odd, scroll through recent watch list, nothing any of us have watched, Ohh bugger has account been compromised.

TV app took wobbly as Karl was now main account holder, had to delete app on TV, sign out of everything, change password, sign back in, checked for any un authorised purchases, luckily non, wife's phone is set up to get notifications so should have been notified.

Called daughter as they share, thought best inform her, Ohh I sold one of our tvs which had amazon on it.

Which is why I don't have an alexa or any other annoying listening bugs 😂

In fairness it wasn't an Alexa created issue and the security features did limit the impact.

"Amazon has updated its Alexa voice assistant after it "challenged" a 10-year-old girl to touch a coin to the prongs of a half-inserted plug."

And so it begins, to quote

The Dark Ages may return-the Stone Age may return on the gleaming wings of Science; and what might now shower immeasureable material blessings upon mankind may even bring about its total destruction. Beware! I say. Time may be short.

Alexa does state it was something it found on the internet, Alexa and other voice assistants just make it easier for crap like that to get out, it's been doing the rounds on other platforms for a while.

I have set alexa to disable keeping any voice or search records and have pin set for any purchases

I've had a small echo dot for a while but never used it, got the round one for better speaker quality, its primary use is hands free radio that doubles as a kitchen timer 😁

I hope Karl enjoyed his short free amazon TV.

It wouldn't be a problem in the UK as the non insulated parts of the L&N plug pins cannot be exposed while touching the contacts in the socket.

Sshhhhh. She's listening. If she finds out she can't kill children with plug sockets she'll try something else.

Plus starting robotic vacuum and 30 minute timer for Lateral Flow tests.
and streaming music for the dogs when we’re out.

I've got a finger for doing all that, it's attached to something called a hand🤣

Nope, it's easier when you don't have to lift a finger 🖕 😁

My CD players have remote eject for the discs. I've still got to get out the chair to change the disc:scratch:

Disks, eject, get out of chair how novel 😂

Haven't used a CD for years. Haven't got any players left although still got some CD's lying about somewhere.  Last used them for scaring birds.
