Only it turns out they have changed the system yet again. I rarely ask for a GP appointment and every time I've tried it's a new system. So this evening I've had to download a new app. Submit all my details, scan a photo ID, all the usual faff. Now it will take 2 days before the app can verify I am who I say I am. If they change the system why not send an email letting you know all this needs doing? By the time you need to make an appointment it's a bit late to find out that system introduced six months ago has been superceded. Suggestion phone in or use NHS app, or even drop in note, give vague symptoms (don’t mention chest pain or short of breath or then you should be calling 999) do not request to speak or see Dr. The gate keepers (receptionists) are experts at deflecting this. Symptoms they have to pass info the to Dr, it’s the Chinese in the armour they don’t like you knowing. Accept it will all start with a phone call from Dr, they are amazing and can diagnose everything without actually seeing patients sounds like 3 week history of pain, blood, or whatever symptoms not improving or worsening. Unable to do whatever. need advice. something like that might wake dr up Quote

I downloaded it, it already had all my details from the previous app they used, which only 6 months ago, so it knew all my details. But then it asked me to scan my driving licence, then scan my face, and now it won't do anything until it confirms my identity. Which it says will take 2 days. I'll ring one of my mates who is an undertaker. Be quicker just to skip the GP. Edited January 15 by Mississippi Bullfrog 4 Quote
bud Posted January 15 Posted January 15 How do people like my dad, who can't even text get an appointment? It's stupid. I told him after covid that my doctor won't do prescriptions from the doctors anymore. You have to do it online. Or go to your registered chemist. Then have them do it for you. He nearly freaked out! 3 Quote
rennie Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Because of Sue's ongoing health issues we have had a lot to do with several NHS departments over the last few months! By far the most difficult to deal with are our own GPS practice! 2 Quote
S-Westerly Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Dealing withmyGP is actually not bad. Dealing with my father's is enough to reduce me to frothing incoherence. Totally useless shower of brown stuff. 1 Quote
Mickly Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Why do motorcycle battery manufacturers make the terminal screws just too short to engage with the square nut as soon as you add more than one eyelet to the terminal 2 1 Quote

I think the yellow crap motobatt ones are even worse with those weird Allen Chinese tiny ones and bent connectors Quote
Mawsley Posted January 17 Posted January 17 I find it amazing MotoBatt polarises biker opinion so much - they're a real Marmite product! 1 Quote
bud Posted January 17 Posted January 17 You are right. I know people who love MotoBatt batteries. And others who wouldn't fit them if they were free. Quote
Simon Davey Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Yup, my Motobatt is great, holds charge for months, and always has a huge amount of starting power, it's just those feckin' screws 1 Quote
rob m Posted January 17 Posted January 17 I've used Motobatt batteries on all my BMWs, they just work. Even with that weird arrangement with the allen bolts! Quote
husoi Posted January 17 Author Posted January 17 I'm not disputing that they work. It's just the connectors. Seem have been invented and manufactured by apple 1 2 Quote
Fiddlesticks Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Apple laptop, Linux media PC/home server and Android phone here. (Windows laptop gets dug out of the crate of spares under my desk every 6000 miles to reset the service indicator on the Explorer.) Quote
S-Westerly Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Rant - whoever re-designed the road access to Newcastle RVI hospital needs to go back to school. The main road outside has been reduced in width by a third to accommodate an enormous cycle lane. The hospital car park has a one way system which isn't too bad but leaving its left turn only which means to get back to the patient pickup point can take up to half an hour which is ridiculous. The short section of road has at least 3 pedestrian crossings and the Newcastle University students wander across them regardless of the lights like bloody lemmings. That's assuming they even bother with the crossings as opposed to just randomly wandering across the road. I suppose when one does get mowed down they are at least handy for the hospital. 2 Quote

Maybe they never went to hospital or have a toddlers mind? from the sounds of it they dont want vehicles in there, assuming the ill and infirm will either walk or cycling in and if they do they will be able to because they will miraculously be 100% well after a short time there from the magical healing of the doctors and nurses…. Ahhh you forget the pedestrian is now the ruler of the roads, can do no wrong. 2 Quote

This holds the nut up, so you can get the screw started and dosn't damage the threads if they stick through the bottom of the nut. 4 Quote
