Fozzie Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Royal mail... When are they going to go belly up as it seems to be it can't come soon enough. Out of the last 5 packages I've sent, 3 have been lost. 2 of them turned back up fine. 1 of them had to have me harangue staff into looking for it, and it was found in some kind of holding area (reason for why, unknown). The most recent, sent 48 hour service last week. So it should have been delivered Friday, Monday at the latest, and the tracking still stubbornly says "we are expecting it". Which as I dropped it off 5 working days ago for a 48 hour service, is code for "it's lost". It's a crank as well, which was being sent off to have a new conrod/bearing pressed onto it. I insured it fortunately up to £1000. But I've experienced their claims service before, and felt like I was being treated as a criminal. One lady queried how a box weighing 6kg was worth £800. I actually laughed as I thought she was making some kind of joke I hadn't got. I offered to send them a full receipt showing the break down of the parts they'd lost, and added "I take it you've never been in a jewellery shop before if you think £800 is a lot for 6kg worth of stuff. You'll have an aneurism". 1 2 Quote

curlylegend Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 I agree wholeheartedly with you. They're pretty useless. I had a parcel posted to me here in France from Glasgow and it took three weeks to arrive. The sender had sent it Tracked so I could watch progress. It took two and a half weeks to reach France and just another couple of days to clear customs and reach me here. Pony Express would have been quicker ! 1 Quote
Fish Posted July 17, 2024 Posted July 17, 2024 When you receive an award for customer service, and the choice of companies you can get vouchers for don't include anything motorcycle related 3 Quote

Davidtav Posted July 17, 2024 Posted July 17, 2024 Well it is a minor irritation. But every time I buy something from the local shop for say £2.99 I give the young chap behind the counter £3.00 and he always just takes it and says “do you want the penny?” … I always say yes please and he gives me a surprised look as he hands me the penny. And they don’t have a charity tin that the penny would go in. It would have just stayed in the till. Yeah I know it is an inconsequential thing but irritates me somewhat. 3 Quote
husoi Posted July 17, 2024 Author Posted July 17, 2024 The easiest way is to pay by contactless. Saves the disappointment. If he has 15 clients a day and works 6 days that's almost 4 quid a month Quote
Fiddlesticks Posted July 17, 2024 Posted July 17, 2024 (edited) You should pay with £2.98 in coins and ask him the same question. What really gets my goat is the self service checkouts that dump all their coppers on you when giving change. Last time it happened I returned the favour and abandoned my trolley by the machine, carrying my shopping out to the car park out of pure spite. Edited July 17, 2024 by Fiddlesticks 2 2 Quote

I threatened one once The attendant wasn't impressed and he did all the checkout for me. 1 1 Quote
Nick the wanderer Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 The Malle Mile Festival. Anyone ever been? The Shoreditch crowd with Tarquin on his CB175 with the mudguards taken off and knobblies fitted. They go in vans with the bikes in the back while Felicity and Belinda go in the VW buses. They stay in glamping pods. They go to places to get their moustaches waxed while sipping expensive coffee, showing off their new tattoos. Anyway it's just up the road from me so I thought I'd see how the other half lived, have a wander round and see the bikes and all the sights. Not a chance! £78 for a day ticket! £78! For a day ticket. What a rip off they clearly don't want people popping in for the day. For some sort of comparison you can get into Brands Hatch today for BSB £29 on the gate. 2 2 Quote

Bender Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 To continue with the Royal Fail. Ongoing so they ruined my original new passport, now they've managed to loose my new paper application complete with returned passport and more than enough information for identity theft, it was sent signed for and so far they think it's still at the post office/shop where it was dropped off, they think it might be at Glasgow office but they not sure. So next up is a phone call to explain my last passport is lost, I don't have the number for it as we just sent it straight back, it's also not signed and it's now getting to the point I'm going to need to do a fast track, pay double the price and go to a passport office, the absolute twats. 5 Quote
Fozzie Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 The staff must be feeling a redundancy is on the way or the company is going belly up. That's the only thing I can think of to have caused the service to have plummeted so suddenly and so quickly. It's been bad for a while, but now it feels like it has fallen off a cliff edge. Time to renationalise it. Maybe this time they won't run it so badly that privatisation looks attractive. Quote
Mickly Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 Just had a prospective buyer round to look at Zippy (BMW F650GS) … got off a RE GT650 with dropped bars … sat on Zippy and declared that the riding position was too uncomfortable due to an injury, said it was too upright, bars too high & seat too wide …. WTF did he expect from an adventure bike? 1 4 1 Quote

WTF did he expect from an adventure bike? The Tiger Explorer with the Cool Covers is now Mrs. Fiddlesticks' benchmark for comfort. Anything less gets a hard pass. Going to be a tough act to follow (the bike, that is, not the wife, I'm contractually obliged to say she's irreplaceable ). 1 4 Quote
Bender Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 Royal fail for their continued ineptitude. So on the very last day before my returned damaged passport would have been declared lost, they delivered it, sent registered, signed for next day, delivery 15 days later. To the wrong fecking passport office, sent to Glasgow, delivered to Durham 3 Quote

S-Westerly Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 Have to say my local area post office isn't bad. Quote
onesea Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 1 minute ago, S-Westerly said: Have to say my local area post office isn't bad. Neither is mine, however the local sorting office is diabolical. Before when you bought a car and had to tax it at the post office the sorting office would refuse if you didn’t have insurance documents. So you had to buy the car wait a week for your insurance then go in and tax it. There was another post office that for new cars took a more lax view. During covid they refused any parcel for eBay as that obviously wasn’t essential. They reduced there hours shut down when ever they could. Even now they are rude and difficult. The downside is 1.5 miles away our little post office, during covid was open as normal. As word got round, very quickly it had ques outside. One for post office and one for the shop. The Tesco across the way also got busy, they learned our local shops are friendlier with better free car parking than the ones on the high street. Since covid our friendly local shops have stayed as busy as the ones on the high street. 2 Quote
