If only retiring actually worked like that. The only fuss they made of me was to send me a letter saying if I didn't send my laptop back, they'd dock the cost from my pay. At least they paid the postage, I guess.

Now there's a novel idea, a company that provides you with a laptop necessary to do your job. I have to provide my own.

I had a work laptop and mobile phone which I had to return on retiring.

 

I kept the mouse mat!

I worked for a company that will remain unnamed that the day I handed my resignation they asked me to handover everything and I wasn't working for them anymore.

Got paid the notice period and managed to start with another company immediately

I've just finished listening to Ade Edmondsons biography on Audible which he reads himself. Really enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone who grew up on those two like I did. Very strange to hear him talking in his normal voice!

 

He did admit to upsetting more than a few fans of the Young ones though. They will quote lines from the show expecting him to finish the sentence but he hasn't a clue what they are on about, it was approx 14 weeks of his  life 40 odd years ago and he hasn't exactly been watching it on a night like fans of the show would do.
