Best and worst!

So come on then what's your best and worst presents you got for Christmas? 

 

Best for me was a new keis heated vest 

 

Worst probably has to be the too much chocolate I got

The best present I got , I bought for myself, it's a Logitech Heavy Equipment bundle for my Farming Simulator. 

No bad or unwanted presents, but lots of chocolate, plenty of beer and some rather nice jumpers, which are too nice to wear whilst on the farm, which is all day every day.

 

However, I also got a £50 J&S voucher, which I'm thinking of using towards an Oxford 70L roll bag. I'll use it instead of a top box when staying away, hoping that having it across the back seat and panniers will eliminate the back end wind buffeting I get from a top box.

Best pressie I got was a rather generous Xmas bonus from my boss.  It will be put towards my next VR headset.

 

As for the missus and I, we do not really do the modern Xmas bit.  Neither of us are materialistic or motivated by "collecting"possessions for possessions sake.

She always has to go in to work over Xmas to cover staff "sickness" and neither of  us subscribe to the modern marketing mans Christmas of spending for spendings sake.  I give a moments thought to the true meaning of Xmas and that is about it.

 

I thought the most appalling Xmas advertisement I ever saw this year was the Boots ad.  Absolutely despicable, shallow tripe.

Such are the lives of the average sigma male (and sigma female).

 

Although, the dogs did buy the missus a really good, rechargeable LED torch, but I feel they have an ulterior motive in there somewhere.  I got a box of maltesers.

 

As for the rest of the pressies when the missus gets a day off to spend at home, no doubt they will be the same crates of beer and aftershave gift sets as ever.

Best....framed photos of our daughters with their husbands and the granddaughters.  

 

Worst....a tie between the cheese with best before date of 16 November and the handle from the upstairs loo which broke off.

Best - a pair of Rokker jeans with zipped flies not the never to be cursed enough button flies!

Worst - a cheese called Minger (really) - tastes ok but jeez it really stinks. It's Scottish so I think it's a cunning plot to get revenge on the stupid English who buy it and then stink out their fridges.

Don't really have a worst We're not bothered in the slightest about things, we do however have a voucher for a restaurant that isn't the one they thought they were buying it for and it's a place we would never choose to go

My best had to be the 1kg of mixed flavours of Biltong my Wife got me 

 

Wouldn't say I had anything I'd think was bad. Probably too many boxes of biscuits

Now I think of it, haven't actually had any pressies. But we did take off on a little adventure, hand luggage only. Caught up with some old friends. Staying in a wonderful little cabin where the Internet and TV were out for the first few days. Bliss

My good lady and I have, for the last few years, bought joint presents. IE. We go halves on a purchase of something we want but wouldn’t necessarily prioritise. This year it’s a small, 6’ x 4’ greenhouse. This is both the best and the worst present. Best because we’ll be growing more of our own food / plants so saving money. Worst because it’s distracted us from other work that we really should have done instead.

Awesome. FS19 was my saviour during the pandemic, I spent hundreds of hours on it cultivating my farm. Usually during Teams meetings 

 

Back to the question, the best was what my lad bought me, the 3 LP set of Oasis at Knebworth 1996. It sounds incredible on my turntable set up.. I don't really have a worst, even my secret Santa at work got me a Simon Weir euro tours book which made me happy. They know me so well

Christmas in my household is a time to get things we need.

 

A new Makita drill with a 5Ah battery was the best. It's about to get some serious use once the new house completes.

 

Worst? Probably a gecko fridge magnet I got. I hate the little bast*rds after a trip to Indonesia this year where they kept me awake every bloody night. It's now a joke present that the family likes to buy me. It's not bad, but I do roll my eyes a bit at it now as I've already had 10 other things referencing it
