Good morning :thumb:

Still feeling rough but not as bad, did a test at work yesterday and it came back negative :thumb:

So it is either a cold or mild flu, in the past though I have managed to shake these off overnight so not sure why it has got so bad this time.

Good news I didn't need the heating on overnight, I still put my thermals on and a hat when I went to bed.

Drinking a cup of tea as I can't stomach coffee and it's too harsh on my throat, I might make up a small flask and take it to work with me today.

Still got the aches but I don't feel as weak.

At least the weather is mild as I will be outside most of the day fitting twin wall for a stove.

Cheers everyone :thumb:

Good morning :thumb:

I don't know if I feel better or not today, I went to bed wearing my regular attire and I am drenched.

I know I have lost my appetite, I bought 2 chicken chow mein ready meals last night which is usual as one is not enough, and I barely ate half.

Still aching although the headaches have gone.

Going to try and force a coffee down this morning.

Working tomorrow so it is going to be a short weekend for me.

Self inflicted but this morning I feel like shit. Staying up to 0300 drinking gin will do that to you. Should be a law against it. And now I've got to face culture with a hangover.  All my daughter's fault, wicked child.

Sounds like you need to rest it out.

Good evening, well my day started well today, got up looking to go up to our favourite cafe for breakfast as usual on a Friday,

Then the wife walks in and say's, Don't think you are going to be very happy!!!!

The pilot light's gone out on the boiler!!! No!! Yep, and before someone say's no problem re-light it.

The boiler has been in this House longer than we have, over 33 years!! Always been on everyday heating the water, and the heating in winter.

Never had a problem ever, my mate's a heating engineer and years ago, told me never to touch it and just leave well alone.

But sadly this morning it died!!!!

Tried to re-fire twice but every time it kicked to main boiler blew out the pilot light😒.

Feels like part of this house just died.

And it's bloody cold😂 in here.

If pilot stays on until main burner lights couple of things it should be.

Over temp cut off, fault with circulation or over temp device.

Pilot partially blocked, main burner is pulling pilot flame away from pilot thermocouple.

Thermocouple on the way out

Balanced flue is flecked and its causing inlet to mix with outlet and your all doomed

Good evening. That’s the end of a pleasant evening of watching the Sherlock Holmes film and Death in Paradise, while sipping at the tot of Balvenie as a form of escapism.

Oh, and the en suite is coming along nicely, supplier and logistical issues aside.

My mate reckons, it could be the thermocouple, or a valve of some description, but when I got the pilot light to light this morning, it didn't look good, very wide yellow flame.

And it took about 15 attempts before it lit.

Just glad they still make the old style boilers, otherwise it would be a nightmare.

Just hope they can work out where to stick the flue!!!

Anyway it's Saturday tomorrow, so out for breakfast with a couple of mates😂

Oh ‘eck. Now the completion of the en suite/bedroom/dressing room is in sight my good lady has her eye set on a new kitchen*. This afternoon’s task? Visit a kitchen showroom to discuss requirements. Wish me luck.

*yes, it is in need of updating.

I'd advise leaving it until retro becomes fashionable and then you're on a winner.

Dude, I feel your pain.

I've only just finished the downstairs shitter and the wife said today over lunch "When are we going to make a start on the living room?".

Translation for those who don't speak wife: "Why the f**k aren't you half way through doing it yet you lazy tw*t?"

She's already started "thinking about" the bathroom, ensuite and kitchen so I just know that's minimally my summer f*cked.

The kitchen has a been looming on the distant horizon for over four years now. Luckily I've always been able to come up with some other job that is more pressing.

Thanks for the offer. We’ve decided to get the professionals in on this one to get it done and dusted while we tackle other projects - notably great swathes of garden, and so we have time for holidays and guests over the summer.
